Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

DbD's in-match UI is detrimental to selling the immersive/horror experience of the game

This is something I realized after playing Unknown & Ghoul a lot recently (what with those gaudy side bar screen effects), and upon seeing the game being played HUDless once again. I also took a peek at the old UI, which only reinforced my conclusion. The in-match UI is simply far, far too noisy for its own good, taking up an ungodly amount of screen space, detracting from the map visuals and subconsciously "gamifying" the experience.

I was around for the pushback on the changes when they were first announced, and I know people always hate change like this, but in this instance I believe the pushback was justified. Other than the survivor portraits showing who each survivor is, the minimalistic, screen space saving approach the original UI took gave the game a more immersive feel to it and was simply better overall. It allowed the map art and the gameplay to take center stage while still giving the player the info they need to know what's going on (other than survivor actions being displayed for other survivors, which was a great addition).

I know UI changes tend to take an annoying amount of time to do, so I don't expect anything to change. But man, I really wish there was a minimalist UI option.
