SURVIVOR CONCEPT - ALEC BRYCE

Alec was never the loudest person in the room. Maybe sometimes. He just had a way of making people look. It might’ve been the voice – steady, a little sharp around the edges – or the way he filled space with motion like a fuse burning just a little too close to the bottle. He liked working a crowd, stirring things up. The chaos didn’t scare him.

He’d walked away from school with nothing but a half-zipped backpack and the feeling that something was always about to happen. In the static and spill of dive bars, open mic nights, and backstage brawls, Alec found his rhythm. He liked the clatter. The unrehearsed mess of it all. He was the kind of person who stepped in to stop a fight, but his hands were always shaking afterward.

He wasn’t trying to be a hero. He was just quick.

Quick to talk.

Quick to deflect.

Quick to disappear when things got too real.

He’s run from danger many times. He had nothing to prove.

But if someone else was in danger – truly cornered – something in him clicked. Words stopped. The fear didn’t vanish, but it broke rank, and Alec moved. Reflexes first. Regret later.

The night it all came undone, two regulars were circling each other near the bar’s back door; drunk, furious, and about to turn loud into lethal. Alec had seen it before. Normally he’d throw a word in sideways, buy time, call security if it came to it. But this time, one of them turned too fast and plowed through a passing server. A kid, barely twenty, arms full of empties. They sent her crashing through the door and into the pavement.

Glass exploded across the alley. She went down hard.

Alec snapped. Sharper, hotter than usual, edged with adrenaline and too much fear to hide:

“You touch anyone else and I will make sure everyone in here finds out exactly who you are.”

Not cold. Not calm. Just done.

And somehow, it landed.

The right words were heard by the right guy, and he blinked, like someone shaken out of a daze. No fists, no follow-through. The moment dissolved, just barely.

Alec helped the server up. She was okay. His hands were still shaking. His jaw was clenched. His breaths were deep but uneven. But his eyes were focused.

He turned to head back inside.

The alley had gone too quiet. The air hung strange. Metallic.

A figure leaned out from the shadows behind the dumpster. Twisted, flickering like something caught between two frames of a broken reel.

It made a sound like a wet chain made of dried blood.

Alec stared.

He didn't run. Not right away.

Maybe he thought it was a hallucination. A joke.

Maybe part of him was still in that moment—afraid to turn his back, afraid to walk away and leave someone else behind.

The lights above the door stuttered. Then they went out.

And the last thing Alec heard before the world fell away was his own breath in the dark.

Too loud, too fast, too gasping.

He’s still moving. Still watching. Still stepping in when he knows no one else will. He runs, sure – but when it counts, when it really counts, he’s the one who lights the path behind him and dares the Fog to catch up.

Alec Bryce’s personal perks, Fight Flight, Boon: Danger Signal, and Main Character Syndrome, allow him to disrupt the Killer’s control, reveal their location, and react to protect those in immediate danger – even when his first instinct is to run.

UNIQUE PERKS:

Fight Flight

Reflex first. Regret later.

If you are put into the dying state within 12 meters of at least one other Survivor, Fight Flight activates for 12/16/20 seconds.

When you are downed this way, all Survivors within 12 meters immediately suppress their scratch marks and grunts of pain for 6 seconds.

If the Killer picks you up during this time, they suffer from the Blindness and Hindered (5%) status effects for 6 seconds.

If the Killer does not pick you up within 20/16/12 seconds, you gain 20% increased crawl speed and recover 30% faster until you are picked up or healed.

Boon: Danger Signal

They’ll know to stay away and stay safe.

Press and hold the Ability button near a Dull or Hex Totem to bless it. Soft chimes ring out in a 24-meter radius.

The Aura of the Boon Totem is revealed in white to all Survivors at all times.

While the Killer is within the Boon’s radius, their Aura is revealed to all Survivors every 10/8/6 seconds for 1/2/3 seconds.

While the Killer remains inside the radius, the Aura of the Boon Totem is revealed to them whenever their Aura is revealed by the effects of Boon: Danger Signal.

Main Character Syndrome

You don’t trust anyone else with the spotlight. Right?

At all times, while you are being chased, your Aura is revealed to Survivors outside the Killer’s Terror Radius.

When within 12 meters of a Survivor who is being chased, their Aura is revealed to you, and your Aura is revealed to them.

While within 12 meters of a chased Survivor, you can press the Active Ability button to activate Main Character Syndrome, triggering the following effects:

  • That Survivor’s scratch marks and grunts of pain are suppressed for 3/6/8 seconds.
  • The Killer’s Aura is revealed to you for 3/6/8 seconds, and your Aura is revealed to the Killer for the same duration.

Afterward, Main Character Syndrome goes on cooldown for 60 seconds.

When this perk is not on cooldown, and you are not in chase, if another Survivor within 24 meters begins a chase, your scratch marks and grunts of pain are suppressed for 6 seconds.

It's been a little bit since I've done a concept. Thought I'd try a survivor this time. Let me know what you think. I tried to make his lore and character archetype really fit in with his perks, and once again I enjoyed the process.

Thanks for reading!

The boon perk is like a better treacherous crow perk, and main character syndrome… perfect for those who like to take chase. Backstory is great. I tend to avoid doing backstories because I can't think of good ones that fit well enough, but you seem to make an entire story, props.
