Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Quest System is Lacking

The Quest System seems kind of themeless. There's no feeling, no soul, it doesn't seem to connect with DbD in anyway. I feel like there is short term gain and long term loss. Four issues:

1: Dailies - DbD monetization has always kind of existed on FOMO, but this might push it too far. I feel like lots of players (though that might be because I'm in the group), do dives into DbD where we play it intensely for a few days, then take a week or two off, then back into the game. Pushing players to play everyday to complete the rift potentially makes the game get really stale and drives players away in the long run.

2: Lore - I don't want to read 22 tomes of lore. I liked reading the lore, unlocking it over time, getting it in snippets, but its not worth just reading straight through.

3: Quests are just gameplay - I get that lots of people complain about things like 'cleanse 20 totems', because it led to players just doing the tome and not the trial. However, it did mean that players had to switch up their gameplay. So far all of the 'quests' are things that people will accomplish if they don't even look at the screen.

4: Missing Tomes - the new quest system is efficient and it looks like every other game in existence. DbD has thrived by not being like every other game in existence. The Tomes fit DbD's theme, they added to the atmosphere, it didn't feel like I was just doing another 'battle pass'. Now I'm just doing another battle pass.
