Play With Your Food not consuming tokens on Nemesis — unintended interaction or stealth buff?
I've recently observed what appears to be a bug — or at the very least, a highly inconsistent interaction — with the perk Play With Your Food when used on the killer Nemesis.
As a quick refresher:
Play With Your Food is designed to grant a stackable 5% Haste effect (up to 15%) each time you end a chase with your Obsession. One token is then supposed to be consumed upon performing a Basic Attack, thereby rebalancing the advantage gained.
However, during a recent match as Survivor, I encountered a Nemesis whose movement speed felt... unusually persistent. Initially, I suspected cheating — but to his credit, the player himself mentioned that Play With Your Food might currently be bugged.
I took the time to test this in a custom game (as shown in the video below) and was able to reproduce the issue: Nemesis retains all tokens without consuming them on attack, allowing for a constant 15% Haste bonus throughout the trial. This behavior appears to be unique to Nemesis, though I haven’t systematically tested all killer-perk combinations — and frankly, that shouldn't be necessary.
Here’s a short clip demonstrating the issue:
A few thoughts:
It’s admittedly difficult to understand how such an interaction could break — especially considering that neither the perk nor Nemesis has been recently reworked. One wouldn't expect code paths that haven’t been touched to suddenly malfunction, unless there are deeper systemic interactions at play.
Whether this results from a specific synergy or an overlooked regression, the outcome remains the same: a core perk behaving in a way that clearly defies its intended risk-reward design.
Would appreciate if Behaviour could clarify:
- Is this a known issue?
- Is the interaction exclusive to Nemesis?
- Are fixes being considered in an upcoming patch?
Thanks for your time — and hopefully, your investigation.
