Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

QoL Suggestion: Add an "Inverted Run/Walk" Control Option

Currently, movement in the game defaults to walking, requiring players to hold down a key/button (e.g., Shift on keyboard, or equivalent on controller) to run. Given that the majority of playtime is spent traversing distances at running speed (when not on a generator), constantly holding down this button feels less ergonomic for the primary mode of movement.

Please consider adding an option in the controls or accessibility settings for "Inverted Run/Walk Control".

  • When enabled, the survivor's default movement speed would be running.
  • Holding down the assigned Run/Walk key/button would temporarily switch the survivor to walking speed for as long as the button is held.
  • Releasing the button would return the survivor to running.

This is good because it significantly improves player comfort by reducing the need to constantly hold down a button for the most common movement type, aligns the default control behavior with the most frequent movement action (running), and offers an accessibility option for players who may find continuous button holding uncomfortable.

Edit:

This suggestion is specifically about reversing the hold mechanic. It caters to players who want running as the default while still having easy access to temporary walking (for precise movements like 99ing sprint burst) by simply holding the key/button down, rather than having to toggle back and forth like with a toggle option.
