The new quest system is one step forward, and 3 steps back
The new quest system is a flawed system, but fixable nonetheless.
1st of all, the name. it's such a generic name and i'm surprised nobody called it out before it released. As others have suggested, rituals would have been a far more interesting name.
2ndly, the rewards are absolutely terrible. not only are the blood point gains more than 10 times worse on daily quests (around 5 times if you account for having 3 new quests a day instead of just 1), and the rift shard rewards aren't as bad as some people claim, but they still need either to be increased in amount for the weeklies, or have the requirement reduced (and of course rewards changed accordingly to make it easier to reach the max tier) - i have no idea why you decided to change the amount needed for a tier up to 100 when 10 was perfectly fine.
3rdly, the quests themselves are incredibly boring. they don't force me to change how i play, or who i play, or with what perks, they essentially just ask me to play the game incredibly sweatily (and you know how to do that? 4 slowdowns. the most boring killer playstyle) whereas older challenges had me changing my perks, my killer, and all sorts just to get the challenge done and it was so fun (besides the absurd ones like 4 gens in a match with dark sense, seriously don't do that again lol). i feel some killer specific challenges or ones requiring specific actions (like taking an item from a trial) would have been fun. perhaps even make it so it only selects challenges you are able to complete, and one a day rewarding with say, 30,000 bp… hmm, if only we had a system like that previously.
the quest system does 1 thing right in my mind, that being giving you the ability to do multiple challenges per trial, but when the challenges are so boring there's genuinely no point in even looking at the challenges.
i personally think the thing to do with the system is to fix these issues, and retroactively add the previous tomes to the system in some way - preserve the menus the tomes are in, and the unique style they had, while enabling you to do multiple challenges at once. even if it's as simple as letting you do one tome's challenges at once, so you're not doing every tome at once, that would be better than the quest system.
making the game more generic will not make new players stay. this includes the new rarity colours (also on that note - visceral? really? iridescent is a way cooler name lol)
