Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Can ‘Anonymous Mode’ please be added to Xbox?

I have seen some posts and quite a few people say that anonymous mode cannot be added to Xbox because “Xbox doesn’t allow gamertags to be hidden” (something along the lines of that) However, this is NOT true.

There are actually quite a few games on Xbox that allow anonymous mode. Fortnite, Valorant, and Overwatch, and more.

Anonymous mode is not automatic or required, it’s an OPTION. If a player is breaking the terms of service, BHVR can still see the persons username if they are reported.

If I’m not mistaken, every platform except for Xbox, has the option to be anon. One platform being singled out is incredibly unfair and shouldn’t be allowed.

If people are able to appear anonymous whilst playing with Xbox players, then why can’t Xbox get the option too? At the very least, you could make it so anonymous players names are visible to only Xbox, that way it’s fair game.

People can still be found and harassed by their gamertag, why encourage this? Why allow players to be posted online and be made fun of because they can’t hide their username on xbox?

Please at least TRY adding it as an option for those who would like to enable it.

When they rolled out their Anonymous Mode to the consoles several years ago it was indeed active on Xbox. Unfortunately the way they implemented it apparently it violated many Microsoft guidelines and was gone like two weeks later.

They said at that time it won't be coming back. Maybe things have changed since then?

If I recall correctly the issues were the gamertags you mentioned plus that nothing can interfere with being able to click on someone's profile, even if it's set to private and very little info is presented. Something like that, and it's unique to Xbox.
