Use the "I'll make sure my teammates die before I do" build.
You run: Premonition, Sprint Burst, Open Handed, Bond.

Use Premonition to avoid getting caught.
Use Sprint Burst so that it's harder to tunnel you and to make sure that if there are multiple survivors, the killer will likely go for the other.
You use Bond and Open Handed so that most often know whenever a teammate is getting chased; this means action! Otherwise be careful! It's all about getting YOU out alive (:

In the linked video, you'll see how this build can help you even with a terrible team. In this game I looped the killer for 2 minutes without receiving a single hit. Sadly I made a judgement mistake and got too comfy and got caught in a locker, ready to be camped to death in the basement. 0 Gens were finished during and after the 2 minute chase.
You will see how this build can turn the tides!

Have fun earning Vessels!

I totally agree with your strategy. During this event being most non altruistic is the best way to get that juicy vessel out of the trial. Too many try to play the game casually, like a normal game = probably not escaping with a vessel.

    Bonus: Hatch is your friend.

My guess is, the majority plays solo. SWF is typically stronger at anything.
