Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Feedback on the new FNAF map and killer gameplay (PTB):

I’ve played several matches on the new map as both survivor and killer, and overall, I think the gameplay mechanics are great and the new killer is interesting. However, I noticed some issues and design choices that affect the overall experience:

1. Map design and area balance:

The outdoor forest area is very large and feels like the main focus, while the pizzeria building itself feels relatively small and underused. This makes the pizzeria lose its prominence and feel more like just a backdrop rather than a key area of gameplay.

2. Generators and hooks placement:

Most generators and hooks are placed outside in the forest, with almost none inside the pizzeria. This discourages players from entering or spending much time inside the building, which diminishes the map’s intended atmosphere and strategic variety. Adding more hooks and generators inside the pizzeria would help balance gameplay and make the indoor area more relevant.

3. Camera and audio bugs:

I experienced several camera bugs, especially during kills and mori animations where the camera either zoomed too high or showed nothing but the environment. Also, I didn’t hear the killer’s heartbeat or see the usual terror radius cues (red aura), even when the killer was right behind me. This negatively impacts the tension and feedback survivors rely on.

4. Collision issues:

At times, I noticed survivors clipping through objects that didn’t seem properly configured for collisions, which breaks immersion and can affect gameplay fairness.

In general, the new map and killer have great potential, but the current map layout makes the pizzeria feel overshadowed by the large forest, reducing the indoor area’s importance. Addressing these balance and technical issues would greatly improve the overall player experience.

Add more generators inside. It has the same issue as the theater, zero reason for the killer to go to 1/3rd of them map unless they want to throw the game. All this work that went into the main building just to rarely be used as a chase area. Why do you keep doing this?

    I can't help but agree.

This map should have been Greenville's opposite - large indoors, small outdoors like RPD has. The Focus should have been on the Pizzeria, having it a side building is not only disrespectful to the FNAF legacy, it's a repeat of too many maps we already have. Indoor maps are not a bad thing or even unbalanced if done correctly, I don't understand why BHVR and the community is so averse to them. We haven't had a new indoors style map for ages and I'm sick of the same formula of "Big outdoors map with a big strong cool central focal main" - often those maps end up being big and imbalanced in favor of Survivors more often than not, which isn't exactly fair to the less mobile half of the roster. It's also a massive nerf to stealth Killers who already aren't super strong to begin with because there's such a large line of sight for everything except inside the Pizzaria, and even that's not a very stealth dense area.

The glitchiness and collision issues are a huge problem and they are on Greenville, too. The map needs to have less of those, and more tall wall type structures if it insists on being an outdoors map. It also could stand better lockers and locker placement, this is yet another map that sucks for Dredge, Huntress, and Trickster. The issues with sound occlusion are also problematic as OP points out.

In general this map needs to have the outside reduced by half, and the indoors increased by half - or be an indoors map with a small outdoors "playpen" area. Come on, the entire FNAF series except I think Security Breach takes place mainly indoors, just make it indoors heavy. They cannot and should not design this like it's Greenville, it's not Greenville. If I were a FNAF fan I'd be devastated they got this map so wrong and made the Pizzaria so disappointingly tiny.
