I've played probably about 10 hours of the event and decided I want to give my feedback. First I'll talk about all the positive aspects that I like and after I'll talk about the negatives.
Positives: 1: is the ability to earn all the cosmetics. It's nice that if I want to grind for all of them I have the option. 2: is that they are available to buy so if I didn't have the time to earn them I still have the option to buy them. 3: is the fact that last years envelopes were transformed into this years envelopes. It was a pleasant surprise when I loaded up my killer I could use the 20 that I had from last year. 4: is the fact that i can play either side to earn these cosmetics instead of being forced to play one side or the other. 5: is the new event mechanics it is a nice new thing to do that helps spice up the game. 6: is the fact that I still earn points for just playing the game and not have to worry about the event mechanics if necessary. 7: that we have 14-15 days to try the event. Sometimes we take for granted how much time we are given to do these events. 8: lastly is the atmosphere and changes to the genes and hooks. I know it's the same stuff as last year but I still appreciate the effort.
Negatives: 1: the point earn balance. I've done the math and as survivor and killer it's a lot of effort to get a decent amount of points this is a double edge sword. On the one hand its exciting to have competition over the lanterns but on the other it's annoying on both sides to earn lots of points. The lantern points are more skewed towards survivors because of the bigger point gain from escaping with one where as killer you get very few for smashing them. The problem that I have with this is because you can earn more points playing survivors more people are playing survivor and less killer. The other problem is that as a survivor it's easy to find and carry a lantern where as when playing killer you have to find the lantern down a survivor then head back to where it was and pray no one took it otherwise you wasted your time. The other problem is that it can only be smashed while someone is on a hook and after they get unhooked you have a 4 second window to smash them before there safe again. So this leads more people to play survivor because its easier points and less work. To further illustrate the point the max points you can get in a single game is 45 and for survivors that means find 1 lantern and rush the gems where as for killer you have to hook everybody the maximum amount and smash all 7 lanterns to get the same amount of points. This would be less of a issue for me if the lanterns were worth more or their were more that spawned by default. 2: the low amount of envelopes per bloodweb. It sucks that I need to make a choice between playing my favorite character and not having very many envelopes or make a new character with tons of envelopes and gamble for good perks. This is only a problem because of the first issue. If there were more lanterns by default it wouldn't matter. 3: the rising point value. I've done the math and I understand that you guys did it the way you did to allow everyone to get the first 3 easy and it costing more for the later coins. I wish I had a better solution for this problem but no matter how I slice it someone's not happy. So I'm not happy about but this is the best option.
THIS FEEDBACK IS MY OPINION. I just wanted to give my thoughts on the event so that the developers can try to improve future events. I am enjoying it so far but there are some gripes. Anyone who reads this can take this however you want. I hope this helps and have a happy moonrise.
