Variable input lag ONLY for skill checks
SUMMARY OF THE ISSUE: My input sometimes takes up to half a second to register on a skill check. The time is variable, so there is no way for me to adapt and play around it. This issue makes the game unplayable.
PLATFORM: PC/Console
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW THE ISSUE OCCURED: Play the game as normal. Observe skill checks lagging. It happens on both PC and console, but only one of my PCs. It is specific to this game. I don't ever have input lag anywhere else on my computer, so I know its a bug in DBD.

Hi @MrT1412! Do you have vsync enabled on Dead by Daylight?

I do. Do you think that might be part of the issue?
As an update, I played this morning with these settings and did not have this issue at all. I haven't changed my settings in months and have had this issue on and off.

Vsync might cause some input lag from time to time. If you experience the issue again, try playing without it.

I'm experiencing the same thing: Most skill checks are fine but throughout a game I will typically get a handful a skill checks that are delayed. Maybe 1 - 5 in a game. It seems like the input is registered late. Meaning if I hit the skill check close to the "great" skill check zone it will probably register close to the end of the good skill zone and I won't get penalized for it. However if I hit the skill check after the great zone, the delay causes it to go all the way through the skill check zone as though I didn't even click anything and cause the generator to regress.
I am playing this on an Asus ROG Ally X. I've messed with various settings such as vsync on and off, different max refresh rates, switching to low graphical settings (typically I play on medium), FSR on and off and this issue persists.
If there are any logs that I can collect I'd love to provide data that can help root cause this issue. Thank you very much.

You can find the game logs in your appdata folder.

Game logs would be helpful for us to get to the team.
After completing a match where the issue occurs, exit the game.
Press Win+R
Type in appdata
Press OK
In opened window navigate to: \Local\DeadByDaylight\Saved\Logs
Usually you would need to attach the DeadByDaylight.log file.

Just updating this thread to say I'm still experiencing this bug

Hey, made an account to say I'm having the exact same issue. Some skill checks I'll hit just fine, but I'm pretty consistently missing skill checks on gens where I'm literally hitting the button and have time to realize I've pressed it and nothing happened and then it blows after the skill check bar. Also notable is that sometimes when I'm being carried the first skill check is a miss and then after that it's fine normally.

Also experiencing this issue. I thought it may have been because I was using a wireless keyboard but the same thing happens without wireless. I have vsync off. I've tried to use the lowest graphics settings but to no avail. Adding on, it's strange how only SOME of the skillchecks are delayed. One skillcheck will be fine, then the next will be delayed. I'll press the button earlier to account for the delay but suddenly, it's normal again. My experiences are the same as the other players' experiences noted here.

I want to add how bad an experience this is for my teammates too. I can't do a gen reliably because the game is bugged so hard I end up missing 70% of the skill checks before the killer inevitably meanders over to check out the noise notification, if they're on a gen with me they're probably dead.

I've been dealing with this bug lately as well. I'm on console and don't have the options to mess with vsync or any of that, but it looks like that wouldn't help anyways. Whenever I play early morning there is no issue at all. Skill checks are perfectly in sync, but as it gets later in the day they all of a sudden start to lag variably. As others have reported they are unpredictable making it impossible to adjust your timing in order to hit them. It makes the game pretty unenjoyable.

I have this issue on steam. I have tried Vsync, no vsync, and every possible video setting combination.
98% of my skill checks are fine, but every game (that im able to do gens ) there's 1 or 2 that I know I hit perfectly, but the gen explodes as if i didn't hit it at all.
I had to start running technician to get around it.
I have a very good computer (5800x3D, RTX 3070, 32gb RAM, wired Keychron KB with cherry reds) so it should not be performance or hardware issue.
I have tried old drivers, new drivers, getting rid of GeForce experience, making sure nothing runs in backround, etc. and nothing fixed it.

I have this exact issue on an Xbox ROG Ally X. Every combination of graphics settings, vsync, wired ethernet, etc. I have played on console and desktop PC since maybe 2018, never experience input lag there and can hit greats regularly. My skill checks will be up to half a second delayed, but only some of them. No other perceptible input lag.
