Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Re-Mapping the Realms: Gideon

God is dead and we killed him. Gideon Meat Plant sucks! The 10th Realm to come to the game, I have to rip this entire map up because it's just not good! If you're an M1 Killer who is not Skull Merchant or Doctor, you have this map. If you're an M2 Killer with a good power, this map is nothing but annoying! So, this map has to obtain a full makeover because somehow, Bhvr made a map miserable for everybody. Indoor? Check. Small? Check. God Pallets everywhere? Check. No Windows? Check. Exit Gates are on other sides of the universe? Check. Basement is always out of the way? Check. Some of the meanest 3 Gens you've ever seen? Check.

So, yeah… I am also renaming the map because referring to it as The Game tends to confuse a lot of new players, from my experience. Most just call it Gideon anyway, but lemme tell you this: This sucked to do!

Overview of Gideon Meat Plant

Would you like a play a game? Along the walls are words written in blood, wanting you to face your fears. Several Traps litter the floor and walls and even the ceiling. Men caught in barbed wired cages, bodies dangling from the ceiling over collapsed platforms, cold bodies locked into strange devices, and cameras, still powered after all this time, monitoring the Traps within.

No more are Generators tied to closed doors, nor are there as many Pallets, with Windows replacing them, creating a more even portion of toys. Shelves are no longer only short loops you can see over, providing little room for mindgames.

Kramer's Mind

Delve into the brain of a dying man inside of Gideon Meat Plant. This three-floored maze of Traps was an amalgamation of John Kramer as cancer slowly took him. The bottom floor is a network of tunnels and secret passages. Along this bottom floor, the infamous Bathroom resides, no longer attached to the edge of the map. Directly across from it, is the Basement, and along the floor itself resides a selection of Traps from the first three movies. The Freezer Room, The Rack, the bottom of a Grain Silo, a Furnace Room complete with Obi's corpse inside, and the Angel of Death, which has claimed a victim.

The ground floor has been expanded for more play, and the corners have been edited. In one corner is the familiar Control Room. It's where Amanda Young herself sleeps among the various diagrams and blueprints of future and past Traps. Instead of dropping down into the Bathroom, a staircase leads down into the tunnel system below. Another corner houses a strangely open room with a single Radiation Machine in the center of a wall-less room. It's where John Kramer had his "surgery" in SAW X. The third corner contains a long and wide passageway in the tunnels below, inside is a single body wearing a bucket on his head tied to a chain. This is the Bucket Room from Jigsaw, and above it is a the Pig Vat that Judge Halden almost drowned in. The final corner is the entirety of the Nerve Gas House from SAW II. It spans both the ground, top, and bottom floors… and yes, it contains the Heroin Needle Pit (Don't know why, but I feel like I had to say that).

Along with the second floor of the Nerve Gas House, the top floor of Kramer's Mind is nothing more than scaffolding and walkways that grant a bird's eye view of the ground floor.

Gameplay-wise, yeah, this map has been turned inside out, folded on itself, left to dry in the sun, cut up, and taped together. The bottom floor is no longer flush with the first floor. It is now a series of several passageways. It's risky to be down there, but can provide a sneaky way to get around. Because of this, there's less emphasis on going between floors because this does lead to monstrous 3 Gens and really annoying loops.

The ground floor is heavily expanded and has less staircases and drop downs. With the removal of Gens being locked to being on walls, Gen spread can actually be unique instead of every Gen being on the second floor but one, and the 30 staircases that seem to exist on the map can actually be Window or Pallet loops instead.

The top floor is a new addition, consisting of most just metal walkways and some drop downs to the ground floor. It's the opposite of the bottom one. It lets you get around, but it's very loud to be up there and, unlike the bottom floor, there's hardly anything to work with up there, so it's very risky.

End

Honestly, not too proud of this one. Gideon just sucks in general, and out of all the maps that I'd be stuck on, Gideon was the first one where I was genuinely clueless on what I'd do with it. So, I decided to reference more modern SAW Movies, namely, ones where Kramer was alive in them and not some ghost that's constantly influencing everything (Jigsaw and SAW X). There wasn't much I could do visually, so I decided to just add things in, like the entire Nerve Gas House from SAW II.

Next up is Yamaoka, which is going to be fifteen morbillion times easier to Re-Map than Gideon Meat Plant.
