Can the DC penalties be reverted to taking effect immediately?

Since the new patch released (not the bugfix patch), I’ve discovered that DC penalties now only begin counting down when you attempt to queue. I received a DC penalty today because my power went out, and when it was finally restored, the penalty didn’t kick in until I tried to queue again. I am not trying to say I don’t deserve a penalty or that DC penalties are unfair, but I do think it’s unfair for the penalty to not kick in until you try to queue again. I firmly believe that this punishes accidental DCs more than intentional DCs. If you DC on purpose, or try to go-next, you might see that you don’t immediately have a penalty and try to requeue. Then, and only then, do you get hit with the penalty. Those people will then log off or otherwise wait out the penalty depending on how long it is because they’re aware they have it. But if you get DC’d due to an internet issue or a power outage, then you physically cannot try to get rid of the penalty until you can open the game back up. These people are forced to wait longer to play the game again despite their DC being accidental. I just don’t think this is fair. DC penalties should just start ticking down immediately like it did before, at the very least so that it penalizes everyone equally instead of disproportionately.

True but eh you know since they put those penalties and me having very unfun times in the game plus this new anti go next mechanic I have done what apparently Behaviour really wanted me to do and that is not giving them any attention lol. I quit the game I only launch it to play with a friend for like 1 hour max when he feels like it. If behaviour can't fix their game balance so badly that they need to literally force people to stay in their ######### matches which by the way people DC mostly because it is very obvious who already won the match within 2 minutes anyways or they go next for that reason. Some indeed do that because they got found first but really it is very obvious who wins at the end in the first 2 minutes its hilarious. I personally have 90% of my games being a total loss within the first 2 minutes so eh ######### this specific game. I am just gonna watch it burn from the side. It is waaaay more hilarious than playing it.

So how do you think a penalty that happens while the person is not even playing the game would be a punishment any shape or form? You got the punishment the next time you tried to play because otherwise it was not going to effect you anyway.

The funny thing is, if people never just quit matches or otherwise sabotaged their own internet, there wouldn't be a need for the DC penalties in the first place. So honest players end up being punished a bit more (or a lot more, depending on circumstances) than the people who caused the need for penalties in the first place.

if people were no dishonest there would be no punishments, the punishment is fair this way because otherwise the culprits would go umpunished, you pay the price unfortunatly, go talk to the DCers and ask them to stop being a nuisance

I feel like the entire Go Next Solution should be shelved for now, and only 2 things should stay: Being unable to unhook during first stage without an offering/perk, and bumping the penalties up, but without the weird wait until you try to play.

Make it so 1 DC gives you a 15 minute penalty, and ramp it up from there.

Actually people log off and play a different game until the timer runs out. Having DBD open, while the timer is counting, and also playing another game is not good for a PC.

People are fed up having to wait in a locked lobby and not being able to do anything else to kill the time on their PC's.

You get punishment and that is your punishment they are not meant to be fun for you. They can do what they want while the penalty is going but now it does make a difference when before it did not hinder people who clearly intentionally used it to DC on the last match as they knew they can still play next time as they were anyway ending their game session.

But not so much of an "eff you" as to the people whos game you left.

If you maybe had to go in 5min more of less, why would you start a game? honestly people should fix their internet and power.
or move somewhere with internet and power that isnt reliable. No, we gotta have strict rules, if your computer may shut down in the next 5min, dont play a game, its so simple.

People are just wrong when they imply there is such a thing as honest disconnects, no you should know your system, you should know your power lines reliability. Stop ruining other people's games by joining and disconnecting.

"I should not be punished disproportionally more, even though I'm a bigger offender by having unreliable internet/ power. Please allow the penalty to tick away while my power is out so I wont be inconvenienced, so I can play again and get disconnected faster again."

How about no, that sounds like a bad idea for the other players.

My take is, If you, your system or your power/internet grid is unreliable, then you have bigger problems than waiting.
I think the current system is better because 1. forces you wait to see if something fails again. 2. it keeps you out of games to disconnect from.

Please BHVR do NOT change the system,
Disconnections are a plague upon us and I think they just need to accept they have to wait.
You have NO IDEA how great it is to have fewer DC's cause now it actually blocks people meaningfully.

I once had a defective power supply in my PC, it caused many DCs and you know what I did, I stopped playing until I could fix it.

But there is such a thing as honest disconnects.  Even when you have reliable power or internet, you know it's not 100% perfect all the time.  It's like saying humanity is 100% perfect all the time.  You know people aren't perfect, but you never know when they're going to mess up.

Also, wow, who resurrected this thread?

A disconnect is still a disconnect, if we cant disern the cause with certainty, then it doent matter if its honest or not.

I just noticed now its a necro posting.
