Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Go next prevention (unhook self)

For first, it's a good change. It's a huge passive buffs to survivors whom teammates are giving up for no reason, turning games that would be won to a loss. But there is several issues with it at the moment that should be adjusted. Self unhook should be possible without any offering or related perks if:

→ Survivor is on hook for longer than 60s (this would prevent killing self while giving small chance to survivors whose teammates don't care about save, remain at 4 % chance)

→ There are two survivors remaining, while one is hooked and second is chased (I noticed this case as killer the most, when they had 99 % last gen and survivor could potentially self unhook while I was chasing the survivor, very small chance but existed and I'm not sure whether it's fair that this scenario doesn't work)

→ Completely deactivated in EGC (when survivor is hooked during EGC, there is no way why they should be unable to attempt to unhook self as reward for completing objectives or just to discourage teammates to go for a save - for example against Bubba etc.)

Opinions?

To my knowledge your second point is already how it works. You can try unhooking if there is two survivors left and you are still on the first hook state. I would imagine it turns off on endgame collapse too but if it does thats an oversight.

I myself have said that they should let survivor have one 4% try but it only activates in the end of the first hook state and does not cause progress loss. This only so if other survivors take too much time to come to get you off you can at least try hail mary unhook on the last second before you go to second hook state.

Honestly? I find it to be a huge downside to playing as a survivor. I say this as someone who never uses hook to kill myself (unless I am hooked and there is only one survivor left with no chance of saving me, in order to give them a chance to get hatch).

So it's not an option I take very often, trying to unhook myself, but having the option taken away unless I specifically run particular perks or offerings honestly feels bad. Having that 'hail mary' option even if it was super unlikely to work, makes a lot of matches feel doomed where otherwise they wouldn't have.

The game, for so long, has thrived because players come up with different and varied strategies to try and win. That's why it doesn't feel repetitive versing most killers, because one Hag might have totally different tactics to another one. But the recent changes feel like stripping so many choices from survivors that it's making it feel like there's only one "right" way to play.
