Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

The Executioner - a revision

A fun killer with cool mechanics now almost 5 years old.

I have great fun with this killer. Though he is challenging, there is a lot that can be done using aura reading perks, as opposed to the meta Surge and Scourge. Going outside of the meta a lot of newer players would feel this killer to just be an M1 slasher, due to having to predict where to project Punishment of the Damned and the limited use of setting up Rites of Judgement.

Some of his add-ons need a little TLC to make the iridescent ones competative and more relevent, compared to the lower rarities.

I propose giving Mr. Pyramid Head an add-on that allows either Rites of Judgement to be projected through Punishment of the Damned - with the goal of inflicting survivors with Torment. Or directly giving Punishment of the Damned the ability to apply Torment. I feel as thoguh this would line up well for an iridescent add-on.

Alternatively a change to an existsing add-on: Obsidian Goblet. Rather than standing on Rites of Judgement to gain Undetectable, why not give Undetectable whilst using M2 to set down Rites of Judgement? Undetectable is a hard gimic to apply to any killer beyond the defacto stealth-based fellows. And I feel as though The Executioner deserves to be able to set a trap with Rites of the DAmned and then have the right to flank and ambush players into it to trigger Torment.

From the get go this killer felt like an ambush killer, but it was difficult to work with the state the game was in during 2020. Now 5 years on the game mechanics have had a lot more chance to settle. The current game is in a decent state for both survivors and killers. There is a lot of opportunity to make changes to less used IP killers to help bring them in-line with newer killers that have crazy utility and powers in comparrison.

But BHVR please be careful to remain faithful to the original design/intention of the killer. Freddie cough

I look forward to any critique and discussion about the points raised in relation to The Executioner, add-ons and abilites 😄

There was a PTB where PH could torment on M2 but the community did not like it because it enabled tunneling.

I think the solution is allowing cages to proc hook perks for both sides and giving torment on m2.

You don't have to be modest about PH's addons, they're in a really bad state, they need a lot of love. Your suggested Obsidian Goblet change would definitely make it way more useful!

I personally don't like the idea of torment on M2, it feels like it's essentially removing trails from the game. I think something like Punishment lines leaving a Torment trail after a delay could be cool, or maybe Punishment could inherit torment if you shot it through a trail (different from your current one and probably with a minimum size) but I don't want a situation where Pyramid Head is doing nothing but landing M2s, and I like the idea of Torment not being guarenteed or even optimal to go for on every down.

Thankfully I think Pyramid Head, addons aside, has aged very well alongside the game, so BHVR don't really need to issue big reworks or anything, it's really just a matter of changing those addons then deciding if there's anything in the basekit that could use changing to make him more fun.

Well with the latest PTB release it sounds as though someone is listening! And thanks for taking one of my suggestions on board - even if the devs didn't read this particular post!

oof. To be fair, that does make sense. Especially with how the cages now work faster.
