The terror radius visualization was never made for deaf or hard-of-hearing players.
The heart VFX (terror radius visualization) isn’t for people who are deaf.
It was made purely to make the game easier for regular survivors with perfectly good hearing.
Here’s why:
Pretend you're deaf and try playing the game for just a few seconds.
The match starts and you begin repairing the generator right in front of you.
A skill check pops up!
But wait—you can’t hear the skill check sound.
Oh wow. Just 15 seconds into the game as a deaf player, and it’s painfully obvious:
You can’t hear the skill check warning sound.
So logically, there should be a visual indicator when a skill check appears, right?
But there's nothing. How hard would it have been to add that?
The reason is simple:
The terror radius visualization was never truly meant for accessibility.
It was created so regular survivors could more easily react to even the faintest sounds from the killer.
And now you have the nerve to say it was made for deaf players?
What a joke.

Not every person with hearing issues is completely deaf. To call this feature nothing but giving survivors a free advantage is quite disingenuous.
Though you're right about one thing - a lot of people with perfectly fine hearing do use it for the slight advantage it gives but what can you really do about that other than not use it yourself.
I'm in that camp myself, I don't care about its advantage- I don't need it so I don't use it.

I'm currently pretty hard-of-hearing myself with some temporary hearing issues in both ears, and I'm finding the visual terror radius pretty damn useful for its intended purpose.
You're right that I'm struggling with skill checks more, but that's just a different accessibility thing this game doesn't have, nothing more.
Honestly, I've always found the argument that non-hard of hearing people get an advantage from the visual terror radius kinda overblown. It's really very minor.

It was actually designed working in conjunction with one of our Consultants who is deaf…so it most definitely was designed for players who are deaf & hard of hearing.

Oh sure, I bet the deaf consultants had no problem hearing the skill check sound notifications, right?
They’ve basically been under the effect of Huntress’s Lullaby at 5 tokens this whole time—
a perk that completely removes the sound cue for skill checks. And yet, they’ve never once raised concerns about it.
Why?
Because they probably didn’t even know such a sound existed in the first place.-15 -
I don’t have any hearing issues, but I still use the heart beat visualizer. I use it because I can’t tell the freaking distance of a terror radius anymore… I could easily tell when TRAPPER is coming because the basic heart beat is VERY clear how far away the killer is.
Tell me, without playing this game much, how far away Spirit is… her terror radius sounds exactly the same, whether she’s 32 meters or 12 meters, just louder… for someone who doesn’t play much anymore, I quite literally just can’t tell how far away killers are anymore because their music stays the same. There is no tone shift for how far away they are.
NOW throw me against a very well made terror radius, like Deathslinger, and I can tell he’s coming any day of the week. It actually sounds like he’s getting closer. I can easily hear the terror radius theme shift as he gets closer. Same with the basic heart beat. Nearly all newer killer releases have this Spirit issue these days. Generic radius that has no defining features how far away the killer is.

On IdV there's a short warning that appears on screen when a skillcheck is gonna appear.
No idea why that wasn't added in but the visual heart was

Very fitting name.

I use it because I have the game muted half the time while I listen to podcasts or music

Lol if they took the red stain away survivors wouldn't have a chance with a day 1 killer and wpuld be decimated by a average killer and totally anihalated to,the point they never wanna play again against a great killer. ISWIS

I very much agree with Brokenbones that your post’s argument about deaf accessibility is insincere. While I understand & wholeheartedly agree with the need for more visual indicators for deaf and hard of hearing players (especially as someone with some hearing loss), the outright aggression towards the devs and anyone who uses it who ISN’T using it because they’re deaf or HoH comes off as more from a place of malice rather than diligence. If you really did care about increased accessibility in the game for those individuals, you wouldn’t be blatantly antagonistic and rude to say the least. If you really cared, you’d be championing for it in an earnestly and positive manner, rather than trying to start drama by throwing around baseless accusations.

It definitely was. Saying it's not, just because of an unrelated thing not having something, is nonsensical at best. The fact it also can be a benefit to others has nothing to do with it.
It's like saying subtitles is only for people who may have missed part of what was being said and not for people who can't hear the talking.
This is definitely one of the more unusual troll posts, but well done for originality.
