The quest system might be the worst change they've ever made.
Most of the quality of life changes they've made recently have been great, but the awful quest system almost ruins the game for me. All the quests are brainless and are basically just play the game. The most interesting quest we've seen for the rift pass has been to use scourge hooks. You could never look at the quests, and you'd still complete all of them easily.
I know they caved to the people complaining about some of the challenges being too hard, but isn't that the point? Sacrificing four survivors in the basement felt awesome when I finally got it. Now the quests are to chase survivors for 800 seconds. Riveting.
The daily challenges used to give us a reason to try someone we wouldn't usually play. Now it's just kick 3 gens, earn the amount of bloodpoints you'd get in a match by doing literally anything but standing in a corner, and kill 1 survivor.
The challenges gave us something to work at and break up the monotony of playing the same game for 1000s of hours. When they were talking about the different paths in the tomes, I was really hoping they start bringing back challenges that actually took some effort. And now I'm basically done with the Rift Pass, and that's it for a month?

I like it. I don't want to have extra filler. Só just play and get them done is perfect.
Quests should BE somewhat unique during events ONLY.

The Tome levels were kind of a like an event unto themselves. My friend and I would play together and get the challenges done each time a new level released.
We haven't done that for Quests. There are new challenges each day, each week. They're not interesting. They auto-accept. There's no feeling of accomplishment doing them. My friend and I are playing together a lot less. We're playing DbD less.
The Tomes were interesting. Like a story mode, they were themed, players chose a path to reach the end. Yes, some challenges were annoying, but we didn't need to change to the Quest system for BHVR to change the challenges. And with the Quest system I don't see how we could ever have glyph challenges or anything similar in the future.
I never break out less-used killers for the dailies because those dailies are gone. I miss the Myers tier up rituals. But, I don't need to play Myers, so I'm going to mess around with the new killer or return to my main if I play killer at all.

I actually prefer the new dailies as I can play the killers i enjoy. I really disliked that I'd get dailies for killers i only bought for their perks and not because I actually enjoy playing them lol in general though, yeah, I can see why people would find the quests basic. As someone who can go days without playing it's kind of nice sitting down for a couple hours one day and getting progress without having to think too much about it.

I like how you can advance multiple challenges at once. You do have a point about the variety though.

I agree, though no idea on the overall player sentiment. Completing the tome felt like a nice addition, the quests are just background things.

Agreed. I prefer this as well. It was frustrating going for one hard or very situational challenge, only to complete a different hard or situational challenge, and not get credit for it because you didn’t select it in the Tome.

Yeah, I think the new quest system is very, very boring. That you can do multiple quests is great, but the quests itself are boring. There were two things I did not like with the old system:
- Challenges which were basically "Throw the game". Survivors had a lot of those, like cleansing a Gajillion Totems.
- Challenges which can be done by Survivor and Killer, but which were pretty unequal. E.g. "Hook 20 Survivors/Unhook 20 Survivors". Doing it as Killer will take 2 games, 3 games max. Doing it as Survivor most likely 10 games at least. Should have been different values for both sides, like they are doing it now.
But the new system really dumbs it down a lot. Before you had quite interesting challenges, like getting multiple downs as Killer in a short amount of time, playing with a Perk you would usually not use, using specific Add Ons to get a challenge done or whatever. Now it is only "Play the game". And I will probably never play some characters again, simply because the challenges dont force me to do so.

Completely disagree. I think the quest system is a huge upgrade.

I agree. If every quest can just be completed without thinking about it, then every quest might as well be "Play X games." It is boring. I miss killer specific dailies and times having specific challenges. This was a huge downgrade.

Having the challenges seperated also made them last longer, which sounds bad but really u wait an entire week or 3 just to get a new page of challenges and could play all day trying to get them done, now 1-2 rounds you have nothing on the side to do except... bloodpoints... not only for the day but for the entire week, as even the dailies just do themselves.

I think it is amazing for new players, but it definetly does not motivate me to play…
Also rewards are so low it's sad.0
