How to Punish Players Who Disconnect
More times than I can count I'll have someone who disconnects during loading or right at the start of the match, sometimes on their first down, and this is frustrating for both sides. The Killer now has it easy, only having to worry about 3 people, and the Survivors have it harder, and no one has fun. More times than not I'll let the remaining 3 farm. The person who disconnects doesn't lose anything more than a pip.
To punish DCers, you could do things like timeouts, but the punishment for people who have ######### internet will be greater, or reduced BP gain, but this will only punish people who don't have 1 million BP anyway. The solution? Lock off any spending of BP until the person who disconnects does a teamwork based challenge.
One thing that poor players and rich players BP-wise both do is spend BP, and cutting off that will punish them for ditching their teammates. So if a survivor disconnects, they'll have to do a standard survivor daily, like "Repair the equivalent of 3 full generators", but instead of 30k bp, they would be able to go back to spending. For killers, it could be something like "Sacrifice 2 survivors".
This method of punishment is both tough and forgiving. If you purposely disconnect, then you have to go out of your way to right your wrong, and if you accidentally disconnect, maybe you didn't load in, then you just have to do a daily.
A QoL change would be to also fix the way addons and offerings are consumed. Ideally, they would be revealed and consumed AFTER loading has finished, so that if anything goes wrong, like an infinite load screen, the addons/offerings aren't wasted. This would also combat people who disconnect during the loading screen because they see the Killer burns a secret offering.
