Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Make the animatronic's recall action slower

I really like the concept of the animatronic being 4.4 with his axe and 4.6 without. It's a fun way to balance a ranged Killer.

However, I have one issue with this design. Recalling the axe is too easy. Recalling the axe takes 1.5 seconds and has, as far as I know, no penalty on movement speed, besides you moving at 4.4 now.

This means there is no reason to ever move around with the axe. You can just walk at 4.6 without it, and when you think you want to throw it soon, you can just recall it and then throw it. The ease of this mechanic also means you are encouraged to just throw the axe away when no survivors are nearby, so you move faster, and then recall it in chase.

This goes completely against the concept of him being a 4.4 killer who moves at 4.6 sometimes (the game info literally shows him as 4.4 killer) since he is 4.6 like 99% of the time. However, this should not go overboard. He should still be encouraged to throw the axe. So here is my suggestion:

  • Recalling the axe, if it was embedded in the environment, now takes 3 seconds (was 1.5 seconds).
  • Recalling the axe if it was embedded in a Survivor still takes 1.5 seconds (no change).
  • While you are manually recalling the axe your movement speed is reduced to 4.0 m/s (new).
  • Add-ons that rely on the axe being embedded in the environment (Party Hat, Chica's Bib, Foxy's Hook and Endo CPU) all gain the additional effect to make the recall of the axe 0.5 seconds faster if it is embedded in the environment, so they aren't as negatively affected by this.

I think these changes would encourage Springtrap to recall his axe earlier, so he actually is a 4.4 killer at times, because currently he might as well be a 4.6 killer permanently.
