Does spamming picking up and dropping your item as survivor still prevent crows?

I saw someone doing that in basement hoping we all died and she brought a hatch offering at shack where the basement was. If this still is a thing please get rid of it she should of had afk crows but she never did but I'm not sure if she was unhooking then doing that and the unhooking was preventing the crows. I honestly think hatch offerings should be removed outright and be RNG at this point.
