Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Tombstone Hot Take

Judith's Tombstone and Tombstone Piece should not be able to Kill Survivors until they are death Hook. Actually I would rework these add-ons and make Tombstoning Survivors base kit like Pyramid Head with Final Judgement. Just get into Tier 3 while Chasing a Survivor on death Hook to Mori them. Also because of this change rework the Achievement/Trophy

You could make the add-ons give haste, faster vault speeds, or even longer lunge attacks while in Tier 3

Its not a Hot take, its a reasonable statement.
The problem is that would destroy Myers's Killrate and BHVR really dont have time to fix Myers so im pretty sure they dont want destroy Myers without a solution. But to me its clear as day that should not be that way. I hope they rework him soon.

A big issue with tombstones is that they're easily countered with lockers or just performing any animation, denying the killer the "Evil Incarnate" achievement, but at the same time this is the only way to really counter the grab, but it doesn't take any skill to do.

I'm fine with tombstones being able to kill without hooking them, as it's unique and fitting to Myers, but tombstones seriously need changes. If you ask me, it should not be counterable by being in a locker or being in an animation, and the kill animation will automatically start when pulling them out of a locker or interrupting an action. However, in exchange for this, add some other kind of counterplay to it, one that takes skill and not just a cheesy jump into a locker where he can't do anything about it to kill you. It could be made to take even more evil than it currently does to reach T3, making him only able to kill someone who is completely drained of evil, and/or both tombstones could be combined into one add-on with both downsides (slower movement speed in T3, and you lose T3 when killing someone.) This way, the counter would instead be to just try and avoid his stalk to keep him from getting to T3, as well as stay out of the range of his grab if he DOES get to T3, which takes skill unlike just jumping into a locker. Additionally, tombstones are problematic when combined with an add-on to speed up evil gain, most notably J. Myers Memorial, and it could perhaps be made to not stack with those.

Allowing him to do it from locker grabs and interrupts solve the issue of the achievement being one that requires survivors to play a specific way (in this case, not deny it with lockers or staying in an animation,) and nerfing it in other ways I mentioned would compensate for the removal of the ability to deny the grab via that, as well as make up for the lack of "lives" in the form of hook states, since it takes him so long to get to T3, that would extend the match instead of hook states extending the match.

However, if they really must make it so that they have to be on death hook before they can be killed with a tombstone, instead of nerfing it in other ways like I mentioned, then they should most definitely also allow Myers with a tombstone to kill them from locker grabs or interrupts, just so the achievement isn't so easily denied by something the killer cannot do anything about.

I feel like the only reason people defend Tombstone Piece is because Myers is such a slow and clunky D-tier killer that he needs it for any real lethality against good survivors.
frankly the rest of his kit (and some of his worst addons like the 'aura read during tier 1' or the stalking speed addons) should be revamped and tweaked so we don't need Tombstone Piece to make Myers good.
Judith's is fine, it's an iri and the myers need to build around it to get any value out of it.

I like it. It's very different from every other killer.

True, very broken addon, baffles that's it's still in the game and never properly touched

The Tombstone add-ons are from an era where DbD was very different and balance was not really a thing. It's pretty obvious that they no longer fit in the modern game.

It's downright unfair that Shape can 99% his power on another survivor, and then YOU end up getting completely removed from the game at 4 gens for it. No other killer can punish you to that big of an extent for a teammate's error. And with matchmaking and solo queue being so uncoordinated, it's just doubly ridiculous.

The add-ons need a rework. Either make it a basekit ability for death hook survivors or make it so he can only kill the survivor who gave him the most stalk.

    1. Getting tomstones take ages (holding m2 for minutes) is pretty boring for both sides and offers minimal interaction.

    Rework:

Each time you down survivor within evil within 3 those effects are applied:

Judit's Tombstone - upon downing survivor, all upright pallets and windows are blocked for remainder of the EW3

Tombstone piece - when entering EW3 all injured survivors will suffer broken for the remainder of the EW3

Imo, Tombstone Piece should get a light rework, maybe locking it behind fully stalking a survivor or something.

Judith's Tombstone is fine. It takes AGES.
