Lobby animation disable + Killers defying game mechanics
Hi,
Just wanted to quickly request an option to disable the killer animations and sounds for the lobby. With the release of Ghoul I realised it's very strange this isn't in the game yet considering people have been annoyed with Oni for years.
Secondly I just wanted to talk a bit about some killers. This may have been talked about before so I would appreacite any input.
Despite Nurse being in the game all along, some killers are heavily going against the game mechanics, making matches way worse than Nurse. Ghoul's first hit is too easy and the interaction times were not based on a killer easily getting their first hit and chases being based on a single hit. Vecna has way too much in his kit. You hook, you send out orb, you fly either its way or if it didn't find anyone away from it, quickly getting to your destination, you can get hits through walls (or at least slow down the survivor, but you will get hits) and you can raise and hold pallets. That's without any addons or perks and it is way too much for a killer to be able to do, based on how you made the game.
It's not clear if you have anyone thinking about these elements when designing killers. The game is asimetric and matches will vary of course, but you do balance patches and have systems you follow to tell you what's too strong or too weak, therefore you understand some fundamentals need to be kept. Compared to some of the latest killers you brought out, The Animatronic I think is actually very well balanced. He is very strong, as a killer should be, however all the better addons and playstyles, as well as the killer power, is very fair. He can teleport around, has a hatchet, punishes not getting distance after a hatchet hit, but also, the survivors can see him around and teleport just as well. Yes, the killer can put a lot of pressure, but it does not avoid any game mechanics.
The strangest thing about my second point is that despite you observing the kill rates of killers and addons, you hardly improve the killers nobody plays with. I believe you've gotten a little too addicted to numbers and stats. These will never be accurate in this game as people getting 4 kills quickly or 1 lucky kill are a lot more common and this is NOT a good average. If you are going to go for a 2 kill average game, they need to be 2 survivors dead and 2 escaping in every one of those samples.
Where the numbers will lie to you again is what killers are played. I am not confident you are fully aware that the only reason the larger majority of killers are played is because people have not aquired the others. Many of the killers are only played by new players or people doing challenges. I hardly see any wraiths, trappers, billys, nurses, blights, spirits and so so many others. It's always vecna, ghoul, dark lord, some alien and luckly quite a bit of animatronic now since he is new, but people will slowly go back to the easy picks.
