Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Rework or just retire map offerings already

With the recent change, map offerings only grant a 20% chance to get the map you want, which is pretty much unusable, would you rather have a chance to get a map or have more bloodpoints or spawn alone? You cannot even tell if the offering worked since you can still get the map even if the offering didn't really do anything.

I think right now we have two options, buffing them back to 100% isn't one of them:

  • Either rework them to instead blacklist said map from appearing in the map rotation, I think this would be a healthy redesign
  • Just remove them completely, retire them, 20% isn't worth the amount of bloodpoints they cost, right now they're just bloodweb clutter (and no by reducing them to common rarity wouldn't help)

Uhh.. why not have them at 100? Sometimes I wanna play on my favorite map. Don't know why everyone is crying

Maps in dbd can be Incredibly one sided. A specific map can strongly shift power and therefore the outcome of a match to either killer or survivor.

    Wanna win with Pig? Midwich.

    Wanna win against Pig? Erie.

Due to this imbalance in map design, the offering that can guarantee this power shift holds immense power for whoever uses it to their advantage. On top of just map layout, tiles and main building, certain maps also favour certain perks. Surge is amazing on the game and balanced landing works well on both chapel and asylum.

Due to all these aspects, map offerings are like the final infinity stone for the gauntlet of the optimized player and empathize the aspect, that in dbd, loadout alone can win a match.

I personally want them removed as well.

Maybe increase the chance to like 40% as 20% is too low.

No. Either rework them, so that they guarantee NOT being sent to a specific realm or remove them.

Why mess with them to begin with? Its an offering. Just like anything else in the game it is all a game of chance. Who you load in with and what perks they have. How good are your fellow players. Ect.

Map offerings deminish the randomness you think is good. If I put one on, I can (in most cases) guarantee a specific map.

With many maps being as unbalanced as they are, these offerings feel unfair for the receiving end at best and lead to unearned wins at worst.

Imo retire and remove them entirely. Then compensate players with BP for the removed offerings.

Then swf just cancel 4 most killer sided maps and they got most use of it. Don't buff swf! If 40% too high how about 30%?

They should be increased to 50%.

I get your point and I agree. That wouldn't be good as well. I prefer not outright deleting mechanics in a game because effort has gone into it. I don't like to see that effort erased entirely.

In this specific scenario, I do think deleting them is the right call though.

I don't think keeping them serves any game - healthy purpose. Never has tbh.

I think nerfing them to 20% was one of those changes that sounded good at the time, but is actually bad for the flavor and longterm fun of the game.

I feel the same way about when the Moon offerings were removed, which made the maps darker.

We're not playing a competitive/rated game here. Removing flavor from the game and over-balancing things is a good way to make it stale.

Either A: Remove them or B: Bring them back to 100% but increase the rarity to Very Rare or Visceral so people don't get them as much.

I'd prefer removal. Buffing them is a bad idea and in their current form they are kinda useless, so I'd rather just get rid of them and reduce bloodweb junk.

having every couple matches being sent to eyrie/rpd/autohaven makes the game stale much much faster than being guaranteed a random map every game

its needed to remove them, think about the idea of blocking a map, a full swf could ban all maps that are problematic for them, therefore doing basically the same as before, you cant increase de % you cant allow them to sum up because of swf, and since maps are problematic, map offerings are problematic, at least if they manipulate which map you play, if it changed things in the map, like for an example, increased the chances of spawning some loops, increased distance between gen spawn and etc, but controlling the map played is simply unbalanceable

I think we should just retire them.

Especially when they make less addons on maps and keys. Less clutter = better QoL because we will be getting more stuff we want.

Nobody is "crying", this is a necessary change for balance and your usage of that wording betrays a disdain for anyone who wants a fair game.

Maps in DBD are not always balanced and can heavily tilt the game in one side's favor, which is exactly how they were used. Plus, Survivors can bring it four times more in a group than the Killer can, which isn't fair. The only counter was a Very Rare Offering that was hard to gather because of the bloodwebs being cluttered; it just wasn't OK to make people bring an Offering every round just to counter another offering that isn't as rare. They cannot and should not be at 100%. They should not be at 50%. They should not be at 30%. They should just not exist anymore as they are never ever used for their intended purpose of just playing a map you like or for cheevos.

I frankly want these items removed and all related cheevos made either easier or simply removed. Achievements should not be based on random sheer luck.
