Pig feedback overall
Pig has been topic for quite some time with the meme "nerf the Pig." While she got big nerfs, she recently got some buffs that though won't really take her away from being about 3rd weakest killers.
I'll skip two stages, those are when RBT activated in EGC or when leaving with inactive trap and when Ambush was considered as basic attack. Because those changes were neccessary to bring her in better position for future tweaks.
First massive nerf to Pig came with her add on pass. While she get some nice add ons like Videotape that now gives her trade for power in return of early game slowdown, her overall strenght was really weakend by the fact that her slowdown overall got way weaker. To those who doesn't know:
→ Both add ons Jigsaw's Annotated Plan and Jigsaw's Sketch gave Pig extra boxes (two if both add ons were used)
Those add ons now give her extra traps. Old Pig had the same hard time to down someone, but attaching trap was more meaningfull, because now you had 1:6 chance that your trap will slow down the survivor massively, letting you orientate more on chase. Current Pig doesn't result in more lethality in chase, so more traps won't really help if you don't get fast downs.
→ Videotape gave Pig 50 % faster charge time, paired with John's Medical File gave you instadash.
Current dash takes 0.75s to charge, same like Victor Pounce, but Pig is the only killer whose antiloop force her to completely lose LOS on survivor, making you guess which direction they will go, if they gonna predrop pallet or leave the loop. Weakest part of her Ambush atm is the fact that Pig completely stops for duration of charging. So in chase if she wants to utilize her Ambush, she get's stunned in 0.75s charging animation that is triggered with loud "roar" that gives feedback to other side that Pig is about to Ambush and they have few options to do before the Pig recieves LOS and adjust her decision.
Next big change was done to RBT search logic. Before you had up to 1:6 chance to slow down the survivor or 1:5 with extra RBT 5x per trial. While the searching was RNG based and each trap had predeterminated which box includes the key current RBT logic works on predeterminated searches per each trap for a total of 12 searches, meaning that you get 3 searches per suvivor, less relying on RNG but getting lucky no longer gives you extra slowdown. In theory old Pig could slow RBT searches mathematically up to 25 searches, while now she gets guaranteed 12 searches. Meaning that you have consistent slowdown but it won't be luck based anymore for further slowdown.
Now the currently buffed Pig. To those who don't know she got those changes:
→ Increase speed of Ambush by 5 % = 172 % → 177 %
→ Increase crouch speed by 5 % = 95 % → 100 %
→ Increase crouch/uncrouch by 10 % = 1s → 0.8s
→ Decrease TR fade out from 0.25x → 0.33x
Mathematically:
Pig new maximum distance per fully performed Ambush raised from 15.8m to 16.3m, giving you extra 0.5m per fully performed Ambush. This sounds like a huge change, but after multiple tests, you won't get hit's that you previously didn't get. The miss just happens a bit closer to survivor, but it will remain usable at very short tiles and only in case that you take control of pallet and survivor doesn't leave the loop.
Pig will now travel 96m while crouched in 24s, before she traveled 96m in 25s.
Since Pig got her base TR changed, the fade out isn't really needed while it's still a buff to her kit. It took about 5s to lose TR, now it will be over 4s.
Conclusion: Pig got lot more responsive in term of her predicted performance while her power is used, while in her strenght it didn't help her much. I feel that on one hand the absence of RNG in her kit is rather good than bad, eventhough it makes her maximum potential way worse than before.
But here's my idea to buff Pig and those are not huge buffs, while might give her better spot and preventing her from being too good.
Changes:
- Pig can now manually choose how many searches she wants per trap. Would be similiar to Vecna spell chosing, once she chose the number, the trap will be attached. Attaching trap time reduced from 3.3s to 2s. Pig can chose between numbers 2, 2, 4, 4.
- Pig now moves at reduced crouch speed during charging Ambush, 0.0m/s to 2.8m/s
- Pig's base movement speed while dashing remains at 7.1m/s but her Ambush duration is increased by 0.2s to total of 2.5s of 7.1m/s.
- Decrease the base charge speed of Ambush from 0.75s to 0.6s.
- Amanda's Secret add on rework
Now the nerfs:
- Pig in crouch will now trigger chase when following survivor with active RBT.
- Survivor's searching box cannot be grabbed but will receive deep wound if injured and broken in healthy and their search will be canceled. Other option I have here is that search progress per each box per survivor is saved, meaning that if Pig pushes you off box, you can still do it in short times.
- Tampered timer rework, no longer reduce death timer
