Why are secret Survivor offerings hidden for their teammates?

If you're playing as Survivor, and one of your teammates brings in an offering that's labled as "Secret", why can't it at least be shown to their teammates? It makes sense for the Killer to be unable to see what this particular player is trying to do, but why hide potentially crucial information from the others?
