Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Reconsider the Cross-Progression policy.

Hey everyone,

I’m writing this post to share my experience and raise awareness about a critical issue with the current Cross-Progression policy—one that I believe needs serious reconsideration.

Some time ago, my email account was hacked and ultimately lost due to Microsoft's account closure policies. Unfortunately, that email was linked to my primary Behaviour account, where I had synced my Xbox account, which contained all my progress and purchases in Dead by Daylight.

I reached out to Player Support in hopes of finding a solution. Sadly, I was met with a repeated statement that there was nothing they could do because, once accounts are synced, you cannot unlink platforms or transfer them to another Behaviour account. I even quoted this section from their own FAQ:

"Once I have enabled Cross-Progression, can I unsync my platforms from the Behaviour account?
You are not able to unsync platforms from your Behaviour account once you have synced accounts. Player Support is also unable to circumvent this restriction on request."

Honestly, this is completely absurd.

I didn't lose access due to negligence; my email was compromised—this was not my fault. As a result, my Behaviour account is gone for good, even though I still have full access to my Xbox and Epic Games accounts.

Now, I am being forced to start over on a new Behaviour account with no progress, no cosmetics, no characters—nothing. Even worse, if I want to repurchase content, I would have to pay all over again, which is simply unfair considering it was entirely outside of my control.

This situation could be resolved if we were allowed to:

  1. Unlink and relink platform accounts, or
  2. Transfer progress to a new Behaviour account when ownership of the console account can be clearly verified.

I understand the need for restrictions to prevent abuse, but permanently locking people out of their entire history, even when they can prove ownership of linked accounts, is extreme and deeply punishing.

I would like to clarify something because I know someone who read or respond to this post might say:

“You need to understand that cross-progression involves much more than just linking accounts. It depends on various factors like licensing, backend systems, agreements, etc.”

While I can accept that this feature and the rules surrounding it may exist for reasons that are beyond my understanding as an average player, I am also frustrated by the fact that even Behaviour’s support team has done nothing to help me. They haven't even provided basic assistance, like updating the email linked to my old account to one that I can access now.

In my opinion, there is simply no excuse for this lack of support. Other companies have successfully helped me update account emails I could no longer access by using identity verification protocols and other secure methods. It’s not impossible; it just requires the willingness to assist the player.

I sincerely hope this post reaches the right people within Behaviour. I hope I am not the only one who has faced this kind of situation. We need more flexibility and understanding in how Cross-Progression is handled, especially in cases like this.

Please consider revising this policy, not for convenience, but for fairness.
