Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

New Killers always get the best version.

Much like Knight being "better" Twins and a better implementation for Legion's concepts, Springtrap is better Huntress. I'd still rather play Huntress so I actually have to try, I'm just reminded of a pattern similar to what Super Smash Bros did with DLC characters. Gave them the best version of a mechanic. Didn't apply it retroactively to old characters with similar mechanics. I just wonder why.

"ST's Fire Axe doesn't go as far as a Huntress hatchet." It doesn't have to. It has little wind-up, little cooldown. If it hits, he can grab you. If it doesn't, he can attack you normally. Both of which he is now 115% speed to do. Unlike Huntress who has a slow whether she hits you with the hatchet or not.

Springtrap has Huntress' "Soldier's Puttee" add-on as base kit. The Fire Axe embeds itself in a Survivor. They can pull it out. So why is Huntress still reloading at Lockers? Make running dislodge the hatchet and leave it on the ground. Give her linear speed depending on how many she currently has.

I don't want a Huntress "rework". I don't think she needs one, and generally too much thought is put into the endeavor. But in light of Springtrap, these are changes that could be made.

Huntress can down all 4 survivors without even chasing them. Springtrap is like an innocent child in comparison

As someone whose most played killer is Huntress, I think the real problem and why she feels so awful nowadays is simply map design. Newer maps have so much tall clutter everywhere it's impossible to throw hatchets at long distances anymore. She thrived in the early days of DBD when a majority of the map pool was the OLD versions of Autohaven, Macmillan, Coldwind Farm, and Red Forest variants. These maps had a lot of short filler tiles, and a few tall tiles like jungle gyms. You also usually had plenty of direct line of sight to most of the gens across large distances of the map, which is Huntress' strength. Then they got reworked and now a lot of the gen spawns are in buildings, behind them, or within structures like jungle or pallet gyms. They also have a lot more clutter everywhere which hinders her a lot.

Not to mention indoor maps that are impossible to win on against competent survivors. That accounts for Lery's, Gideon Meat Plant, Hawkins, Midwich, and the RPD variants. I would also argue that with exception to Shattered Square (Knight's release map), virtually none of the newer maps benefit Huntress at all with their large amounts of clutter, tall tiles, and most of which contain an extremely tall main building structure in the centre of the map.

The only good/decent maps for Huntress as of right now in my opinion are: Coal Tower, Ironworks, Shelter Woods, Blood Lodge, Wreckers Yard, Rotten Fields, Mount Ormond Resort (all 3 variants) and The Shattered Square.

This is why Springtrap is, right now, the best ranged killer. He has free map traversal directly on top of the gens with his security doors, can move at 115% at will by leaving his axe on the ground, does not need to waste time reloading at lockers, and does not suffer from these new map designs because of it. Sure, Huntress is always the best at long range pressure. But, this doesn't mean nearly anything when she can barely utilise that strength in 70% of the maps.

I would get behind comparison of Ghoul making Legion irrelevant, but Springtrap is not really strictly better than Huntress.

Huntress definetly is better than Springtrap in several scenarios. She can handle multiple survivors way better for example and I think her hatchets are overall way easier to use on medium range.

    Debatable.

Sure, but ST has map pressure and lengthy Undetectable. Unless Survivor ignores the lullaby, Huntress can't sneak per se. Just snipe. Even with Iri Head, she has to pick up the Survivor. Springtrap can choose to grab you at the cost of still being blinded. The grab takes less time tho, smaller window to blind.

This. The fact ST's axe is heavy enough to throw over walls seem like a low blow to all ranged Killers. Unless in a building there won't be a ceiling. No other Killer has vertical ability, even the other way. P-Head's chains can't come from underground.

That's why I don't like Pyramid Head's PotD. It's fine to dodge or bait but he can cancel the trail then hit me or fire PotD then hit me coming the other way.

I'm not saying ST is better in so much that he's new. I doubt he'll have any mechanics changed anytime soon if at all. Meaning he gets to gloat that his axe is summoned at the cost of being 110. Huntress' relationship to Lockers has been here forever unchanged, but Springtrap presents a window of insight in how projectiles could work. Reloading and hatchets disappearing into nothing is what irks me in light of ST's Fire Axe. If Huntress is hunting us she would pick up her hatchet mid-chase or smack pieces together to make one or repair it. She's not a caveman. She would use what was on hand to try to harm you. Like Minecraft or something...

Sure, but ST's cooldown by comparison makes her unable to capitalize like he can. Hit or miss Springtrap is now 115. Huntress doesn't bloodlust for 15 seconds. You have to land the hatchet to gain haste from her add-on. ST gets that for free.

    Great debate.
