i mean i guess that could be interesting but with the amount of toxicity in this community i presume the only thing u are gonna hear are slurs and racism, etc

There's no plans to do this, we're quite vocal about how we will not add Voice Chat to DbD not even in modes.

I personally get enough horrific slurs and abuse thrown at me in text form, thank you very much. I don't need to hear them too.

Not even Proximity Chat?
I feel like Proximity Chat would add to the experience since youd have to pass messages along between teammates, which would fit into the horror themes of the game.

I can understand the rationale behind not having voice chat (impossible to police/punish all the chat abuse), but it seems like a double-standard when there is apparently no punishment for post-game text chat abuse. I’ve reported people many times for death wishes, threats, slurs, etc and as far as I know, no action has ever been taken.

I think it's less a double standard and more a "we can't even police text, so voice would be an absolute nightmare".
Also, even setting aside abuse, the logistics in some regions would be insane. Like, sure, the majority (but not all) of players in North America would speak English and be able to communicate, but can you imagine being a Spaniard in solo queue trying to communicate with a French person, an Italian, and a German?0
