Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Devs Please Read

Since everyone wants to be so disingenuous with their arguments, we’re just gonna lay it all out.

With the core functions of dead by daylight, you have an asymmetrical multiplayer game that features one player (killer)  versus four players (survivors).

Let’s look at this slots for killer:

  • power slot (unique to each killer)
  • 2 add on slots (these can change the power in various different ways)
  • Offering slot

Now survivor:

  • item slot (for those of you that wants to pretend that you don’t know this, this is the equivalent of killers having a power)
  • 2 add on slots (which ultimately doesn’t change the item very much, not compared to the variety of changes to killer powers)
  • Offering slot

Now, when we enter a lobby, the killer gets more information than the survivors do. They can see what items the survivor has. So for instance, if you have three survivors with a med kit and the killer, they are facing the plague, those med kits are basically useless.

To make things fair the killer cannot change their killer once they’re in the lobby, but their survivors can change their items, but it’s taking a gamble. If you switch over to flashlight and the killer is playing Lightborn  then those flashlights are useless.

The reason for this is because the survivors don’t know who the killer is, but the killer does see what the survivors are bringing as far as items. So the killer can adjust if they see flashlights. But survivors that are running med kits have no idea if they’re playing against the plague so they don’t have the information to adjust in order to counter it.

As time has gone on, killers have gotten stronger. Instead of having one power, they can have three maybe four powers. And here’s the kicker: each one of those powers has an independent cooldown so if the killer makes a mistake, all they have to do is use their next power. So now you have killers that are basically hybrids of previous killers, which makes them almost the same as two killers or three killers.

So now, instead of one verses four, it’s two or three verses four with no cool down because you can just rotate through every single one of your multiple powers, and survivors either need to adapt to all of this or just lose.

Many of the new killers that are coming out have quite a bit of anti-loop powers and/or add-ons. But now that survivors actually have something to help them out, this is a problem?

So you keep making killers stronger, you keep giving them multiple powers, which just makes things easier for them without ever giving survivors. Anything to counter all of these new mechanics that you’re adding with these killers. You finally give survivors something to help them out and it’s not even been a week and you’re gonna get rid of it

Let’s look at the facts. Everyone who argues why survivor items or perks should be Nerfed into the ground, mentions the trapper and some of the original killers how they are not on par with all of the others.

Yeah, the trapper seems to do just fine. If his kill rate was so bad, he would’ve been changed a long time ago. The fact of the matter is you have already squashed every perk and every item that survivors have ever had so much so that it doesn’t matter what killer that you play you are going to have a much easier time.

So if you’re gonna continue on this trend of making killers stronger and not bringing survivors up to speed, you are effectively killing your game. There is zero argument that has any validation whatsoever. Have your kill rates dropped so dramatically that this is necessary? I don’t think so. Your kill rates don’t need to be 100% and that’s what the people who are advocating for these changes want.

You have repeatedly given killers, more and more and more and more with each release. Now the survivors actually get one thing that isn’t even that big of a deal and it’s certainly not something that’s gonna make sure you escape every single time. Not by a longshot. But because killers don’t like it you’re gonna get rid of it or squash it so much that it’s unusable?

If you actually have any integrity for this game, you are going to read this and understand that every single thing I’ve said is true. Items are our only balance against killers and if you make them all unusable, you’re saying that you are advocating one side and only one side.

Killers do not have a limit on the use of their powers, and we do have a limit on our items. To have one item that matches the unlimited nature of killer powers is not game breaking, and anyone who says otherwise is absolutely disingenuous with selfish motives at heart.

Also killers are absolutely limited? The unknown can only have so many clones out before they start replacing each other, and they have a relatively long cooldown to teleport at all. Plus you can dispel them. And UVX effect has only enough duration to get off like a single shot before its gone. How are these not a limit on the use of their powers?

Every killer has limit of their power, cooldown or something. Except extremely short, like for clown now, ghoul, nurse or blight.

Every killer that had three type of powers gain limited power from other killers. Dracula can’t hit through textures above survivor height, his dash is more limited than Wesker’s/demo’s. Vecna mediocre killer, as well as springtrap, they aren't “high tier”

Only few addons actually game changing. Many killers don’t have game changing addon, or everything becomes clear after few seconds of chase with person, so u can get “this Myers definitely tombstone/infinite iri”

I’m agree with no neccesity to nerf vials that harsh. But nothing about killer power here. Every side get controversial treatment that mess with their gameplay. Maybe it's time to stop us vs them treatment?

You could have saved a lot of time by saying "I want fog vials to stay unlimited use because I find it unfair that killers get to have unlimited uses of their powers but survivors don't."

I disagree with you because that kinda misses the whole premise of the game. Survivors are supposed to have limited resources that act as a pseudo variable time limit on how long they have to complete the generators and escape. Their items are just another one of their limited resources, along with pallets, perks, health states, hook states, and more.

Also, I'm not really sure why you're so against some killers having multiple abilities as part of their power. That's been a thing since Doctor was released. In my opinion the only killer who has multiple abilities in their kit that out shines their progenitors is Dracula, but even he is manageable to play against.

I wouldnt count multi power killers as 2v4. Its no different than huntress being able to shoot at you 7 times before reloading, dracula shoots his hellfire, misses and is forced into an easier to loop wolf form where he has to play around pallets and windows. But he is still 1 person with 1 attack going out at a time. There isnt another killer running around pushing the other 3 people off generators while hes busy trying to hit this one. It simply means he can attack in different ways. Even if he knocks this person down, 1 or the 3 can get off a generator, zoom over and break the hook you were going to, if the flashbang he dropped didnt blind you first, and then takes hits to block you from reaching the next hook. Then u lose the survivor you are carrying, and a forced to choose either the guy that stopped you from hooking, or the guy you were trying to hook. While the other goes on a generator with the other 2 or continues to follow your chase closely to cause the same problem again. All while generators are getting done in the background. This happens on any killer, no matter how many powers they have, they all have a weakness.
