Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Thoughts and suggestions on recent patch

I feel like this latest patch has been one of the most controversial in recent memory and much moreso than I think anyone really would have anticipated. And you're probably inundated with people expressing themselves but I'll add my 2 cents.

Item changes

My thoughts on item changes are similar to my thoughts on perks. If you want them to be used then you have to make comparable to the items and perks players actually are using. If they're not comparable then players won't use them and thus it doesn't matter what changes you make.

  1. Maps - they're still too niche and not comparable to medkits or toolboxes. If you want maps to be based on finding pallets then just make it a persistent effect no different than windows of opportunity. Don't make it be this funky charge-based system. And the charges that we do have on the maps should actually have a meaningful, persistent effect that doesn't just almost instantly go away; like it should last for 60 seconds as a baseline. One thing I think would actually be really cool is if survivors who are in the proximity the beam's effect should be revealed to other survivors.
  2. Keys - You probably could still buff keys. I think many survivors still consider them to be too niche to bring into the game. I've been doing it just because I've been going for hatch escapes but there's still not enough value there to meaningfully impact the game in the way that a medkit or toolbox can. Also, the addons except for seeing the obsession, are mostly useless and there's a lot to work with here to make keys better. I'd propose that the items you find in chests that you open with a key come with a chance of having addons attached. (Yes, Ace in the Hole does exist but it's still too niche to be seriously used by anyone)
  3. Fog Vials - I love fog vials and I'd hate for them to not be considered a serious item worth bringing. Honestly, fog vials are one of the best additions yall have ever added to the game. So, I really hope you can get it right. My suggestion is twofold. One, the Rare fog vial should have a powerful effect, with a much smaller radius, and limited charges. And the uncommon fog vial should have a much weaker effect, over a larger area, but have unlimited (or more) charges. This would enable multiple playstyles with fog vials. Some people might want a very strong, obscure effect, that they can use once or twice a game. Others might want something that can just help obscure scratch marks and pools of blood occasionally throughout the match.

Walking Dead content

  1. Michonne's vocie was way too loud. I don't know if its been fixed recently. I haven't noticed it in the games I've played lately. But her sounds were like twice as loud as other survivors.
  2. Rick's screams especially the one where he gets downed sounds just like the Springtrap whiteman jumpscare scream. It's shockingly horrible. I'd love for this to be changed because all I hear is Springtrap screaming everytime rick opens his mouth. Like it doesn't sound like Andrew Lincoln at all.
  3. The new map was a decent idea but its really not the same quality as the other maps. I think the best thing you can do is to just find a way to integrate the new building into the already existing maps if possible. Otherwise this map needs a lot of work. I know there's an achievement associated with it and I don't know how that changes things but it's really low quality and needs a lot of balancing if it's here to stay. The exit gates sometimes spawn right next to each other, the generators are way too close to each other, there's just massive open areas across the entire map. It needs a lot of help.

If you got this far, thank you for reading.
