Disconnect Penalty
I'm all for disconnect penalties when its frequently done because you do get people who "rage quit" regularly, however its less impacting for survivors as I find bots are actually quite useful.
My problem is the way it has now been implemented, we all have lives and uncontrollable things can occur which do require the occasional disconnect, for me I have kids etc and last night I had to drop out of a match to go deal with a personal issue, left myself in the lobby and then never got the chance to play again, I've booted up this morning, left myself in the lobby for about 20 mins while I got sorted and then hit play… to then be hit with the 5 minute penalty.. I mean what the actual hell is that about… ensuring I serve my time while sitting at the computer despite having around 40 minutes of being in the lobby??
This is one change that after it happens so many times will push me away from the game (again), I don't mind being penalised when I choose to disconnect but leaving it sufficient time in the lobby should be enough, it should require me to click "play" to start the timer and have 5 minutes of my time wasted that I already accounted for.

You got the 5 minute penalty of disconnecting from your last match. It starts the next time you are trying to queue and in my opinion that is the correct way as now it literally causes inconvenience to the person who disconnected when before they could ignore the penalty by just stop playing and could just continue next time without any worry of the penalty. To me the new system seems to be working as you get annoyed enough to come to the forums to complain about the penalty that you seemed to be got for totally valid reason.

Yea, great for the casual players with life to deal with. I 100% understand the need for a disconnect penalty and accept that it occurs hence why leaving myself in the lobby with the game running should be reasonable enough. This is just a silly method that is off putting when there are sometimes genuine reasons to drop off, maybe if this was after a regular occurrence but not when it only happens once in a while.

Your life is not an excuse we all have one. You can have what reason/excuse you want they can't tell why so all get punished. People would also exploit if there is no penalty until you do it a lot and they did before this was implemented.

Dedicated Server disconnects should not count.

Their system doesn't differentiate between why a player loses connection, and applies the penalty the same way each time. Otherwise it would be open to abuse, as players could simply pull a chord out or dashboard etc. to maneuver around penalties.
Also I've never been convinced they themselves know what their servers are actually doing! 🤪🤣

It does not count server crashes so if you got penalty it was not server issue but connection loss in your end or between you and the server. Another one where Behavior or the game has no way of knowing why you lost connection.

It's weird bc the developers themselves have said to go play other games if you find yourself getting frustrated and when you do close the game out of frustration you come back and are faced with the penalty … makes sense

Completely missed the entire point then, we're talking about when you don't leave the game out of frustration, not everyone playing is a child, some of us have children and things to manage and unfortunately game time can get interupted but if you aren't playing for hours and then come back to a penalty.. that's just stupid like really stupid
