Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Please stop with survivor perks that require searching chests to activate

In theory, you could put a strong effect behind these perks because searching chests is inherently a gabrage waste of time. In practice they're too conservative on the balance of any remotely powerful effect to ever release a perk like this that is worth using. Every single perk with this condition is garbage. You can run several of them together and they're still garbage. You can run them with perks to make searching chests faster/enable rummaging and they're still garbage. There's nothing redeemable about them. The strongest one, moment of glory is just straight up objectively worse than inner strength.

Been playing with Plunderer's Instinct, Specialist, Streetwise and Appraisal myself...

It can actually get pretty bonkers, cause there are more toolboxes available at higher tier than the other items… and you can get some pretty darned good toolboxes this way, e.g. a 54 charge Commodius for example with effectively a BNP from Specialist? With quite a good change to so this 2 or maybe even 3 times. It can be pretty nutty 🙃

I guarantee you they're trying to avoid Circle of Healing 2.

The community (usually killer mains tbh) often requests for survivors to be incentivized to do something other than generators. The problem is that the other thing needs to actually be worthwhile to do.

This resulted in the monkey's paw of original Circle of Healing.

The balancing act of making something other than a generator worth doing for survivors without making the reward overpowered is very very hard. Boons are basically in that position now, so it's not impossible.

    Immediately upvoted.

These perks are a scourge on the Bloodweb. There's not a single one of them worth running and they just keep on making them.

They would be a lot better if there were more chests on the map.

Chest builds are actually pretty good with Appraisal now, but that's the issue - you NEED Appraisal for it.

I think Chest builds could be a lot more viable if they added at least 1 or 2 more chest per trial, and also buffed the perk Specialist to give an additional charge per token. The Appraisal buff was a huge boost to towards making Chest builds useful in matches as it helps with the critical shortage of chests.

I completely agree with @sizzlingmario4. The main issue right now for chest builds is the lack of chests and as a result, any chest build basically requires Appraisal. Chest perks are already pretty weak and barely break even imo given they use 1 of 4 valuable perk slots, so giving more opportunities to use said perks wouldn't hurt.

Given that Chests no longer take priority over killer objects, there shouldn't be a huge issue with adding a few more per trial. Also adding more chests on maps would also make killer perks like Hoarder and Human Greed more useful.

Time is a resource in the game. Everyone is on a deadline, including the killer. Any time wasted is great for the opposing side (why looping is so strong). Some perks are powerful, but they are balanced out by a time resource cost. Chests are just the devs way to have that cost realized. It's a waste of time, yes, but that's the point.

But then the question is, is that waste of time actually worth it? The answer is usually no.

Then even if you wanted to save some time by bringing a perk to help find chests, or keys to open them faster, well.. then that's resources and perk slots you are spending that could have otherwise been something else.

I skipped walking dead dlc these perks are just awful, only decent one conviction is getting nerfed soon i'm pretty sure, you all need to stop buying the slop if you want good perks

They should at least add an extra chest so Perks like Moment of Glory or Apocalyptic Ingenuity at least have a chance to activate twice without any other supporting perks.

Appraisal is basically a prerequisite to running these perks and I think they should do something about it.
