The Clown rework is a disaster
Managed to avoid going against the new Clown until the other day but boy is it BAD.
The big guy was running around literally every loop 15% faster and with wallhacks. There was barely any time that he was not Invigorated. It takes absolutely zero skill to use this killer. It's literally throw bottle at feet and win most loops. You don't have to think about bottle placement whatsoever.
He threw one single purple bottle in that entire game. The purple bottles were gutted and the yellow bottles were made ridiculously easy to use. There is no fun in playing this killer anymore unless you feel like handicapping yourself by deliberately not using yellows.
In my opinion, the following needs to be done:
- Revert the nerfs to the Tonic, and the activation speed buff to the Antidote
- Keep the buffs to the Reload speed, and the Haste percentage buff to the Antidote
You really need to go back to the drawing board with this one. Clown is an underwhelming killer but this is not the way to buff him.

Yeah I haven't been enjoying getting freight trained. It's getting worse as the new Clowns practice too. I was beating about half at first and now its basically an immediate wash.

Unfortunately I have been playing against Clown pretty much every day. It isn't fun.

The things is, Clown's power was already very strong for chase. His weakness was that's all he had. Buffing his chase just made him even more oppressive in the 1v1.
I would have just given him something to make his map traversal better. Maybe increase the speed boost from the antidote when out of chase or something. I don't know.

I hope they will keep activation speed on 1,5s or at least at 1,75s. I asked it since last time they changed him back in 7.6.0 and it was good change, they just went too far with it.
Good Clown always used both bottles, I don't know where this narrative with "spamming purple bottles" came from. But now he is literally forced to use mostly Haste, his addons variety was deleted with only additional haste addons left.
Honestly, he didn't become MUCH stronger, just more braindead. Like I used Cheap Gin pretty often before patch and was same haste Clown whole game, but with 13% instead of 15%. But keep in mind, I had strong purple bottles with me as well.
So yeah, I agree, he should be reverted, but this is mostly community's overreaction due to fact most people never saw good Clown in their life.-3 -
The 2% buff to the yellow is barely noticeable, but what is very noticeable is that the yellow activates a lot faster so every clown freely spam them out now.
Wasn't Skull Merchant complain about being too easy and free hits? Not counting the 3 gen hostage since that's no longer works. Now we got Clown and Ghoul that's when more oppressive than SM back in her 2.0 state. Can't really change them unless Clown is reverted back to how he was before and Ghoul would be a heavy rework.
Would gladly have 2.0 SM back if it meant reverting Clown and fixing Ghoul.

You're literally describing Clown for the past 2 years, bud. His wallhacks were way stronger before, even. This addon is very bad now, in fact. I agree that this rework is disastrous and unneeded but most complainers really are clueless casual players, heh.

I don't even bother trying when versing him, as there's no way to escape when he catches up, and making distance is extremely hard when he can just spam bottles, since theres no delay it's basically a pay to win killer when it comes to chases, 12% haste for free. It's not fun, especially when they also use the same perks like Blood Favor and Rapid Brutality.

Double invigoration addons with rapid brutality and/or STBFL and Coup is a valid thing to complain about I feel. Clown casually moving at 132% is pretty oppressive so imagine how bad it is with rapid (137%) and the faster recover/longer lunges from chase perks

But this has always been the case since when like, any of these perks were introduced. He just got a 2% buff, and the yellow bottle activation buff. Revert the yellow bottle and we will test if he is still oppressive or not

No, it's a lot worse now.
I've heard this take before, that it's the same as it's always been, that him being faster is the same as you being slowed down, but it's really not. Clown being faster is better for him than you being slowed down in a lot of ways.
Aside from giving him better map presence (a historic weakness of his), he can effectively pre-apply the speed difference instead of having to throw it ahead of him and get you to walk into it.
Let me give an example from earlier:
Clown sees me working on a generator a fair distance away. The pallet next to that gen was used up earlier, so the area I'm in is unsafe, but I can just pre-run and try to get to something. Against old Clown, this would work. But against new Clown, he just speed boosts himself and closes the distance very fast for an easy hit as I try to find something to loop.
The next tile I get to was also used up, but it's okay. I have a lot of distance. Against old Clown, I could make use of walls to keep him from throwing bottles ahead of me and slowing me down. Against new Clown, I can't. He, again, uses a speed boost and catches up to me and downs me right in front of the pallet I finally manage to reach.

It's not just the activation time for the antidote, but how long the invigoration lasts. It's an ass load of time that ensure the clown can zoom at +15% speed or higher for the entire chase. The cloud also doesn't tend to linger long enough for the survivors to utilize it as some form of counter.
What I'd do is increase activation time to three seconds, reduce invigoration time by half, and extend antidote cloud duration by two seconds.
Purple bottle also needs to get somewhat unnerfed. The 1s of hinder just isn't worth it.
As a side complaint: I feel like clown simply has too many bottles and can reload way too fast to make any form of tactics meaningless anyway.

This is true, i can attest to that.
After the rework, i have played him for a bit. One game, really, but it was enough to see clearly how braindead he became.
All you have to do is spam yellow bottles at your feet. Any kind of skill, like conserving bottles so you don't lose distance reloading or aiming, is not needed.
Also, the purple bottles deactivating in a second is just hammering the point further. The only add-ons that could do something, VHS Porn and Bottle of Chloroform, are still unimpactful even when combined.

Yeah, like I said, it's not the Haste value that's the issue. It's the ease of activation.
The yellows going to 12% would be a reasonable buff by itself, but the activation speed is far too strong.
