Suggestion: Tidy up the state of the bug reporting forum

With the current state of DBD and the number of bugs there are, it is crucial for us, the players, to report any bugs we find. However, the bug reporting forum here is, to be quite frank, an indiscernible mess.

The forum could do with a proper tidy-up and a thorough sort. There are a lot of ‘closed’ reports in the pile. These reports are cluttering the bug report forum and can make it more of a nuisance to search for a specific bug to prevent duplicate reports. Creating a sub-forum folder for closed reports would, if my maths is correct, according to the tags, move around 180 pages from the forum pile – and prevent them from appearing if we are searching for a report on a specific bug.

On the topic of tags, there are reports dated back as far as 2020 that lack tags. This gives a feeling of a lack of transparency on specific bugs and issues. Most of these have probably since been resolved, but how are we, the players, supposed to know? It would also undoubtedly help in determining which bugs are still active and which aren’t.

The addition of a “Sub-Tag” would help in searching for specific bugs. For example: Tags for “Cosmetic” or “Killer: The Shape”, which can be applied by users reporting the bug. Currently, we have access to very broad tags at most, and that doesn’t really help us when checking for specific bugs. While the search bar is available, that doesn’t necessarily mean it is easy to find the specific bug – for example, User 1 reports a bug for Clown on Cowshed – “Clown gets stuck”. I want to report a bug for Clown getting stuck in a specific window on Fractured Cowshed. I search: “Clown Window Bug” or “Clown stuck in Window”. If there were a specific tag for clown, I could tick Clown and read the recent bugs, and be less likely to create a duplicate report. While there are certainly limitations to how many tags you could feasibly make without overcomplicating, using Initial tags such as “killer” and allowing sub-tags “Clown”, which would only appear after Killer is selected, would help a great deal. Other tags could include: Cosmetic, Realm // Realm Name, Offering // Type of Offering (BP/Map/Reagen,t etc), Survivor // Survivor Name.

Furthermore, I think adding the Fixed tags and having a separate section for Fixed bugs would assist in cleaning up the section. It would also show the community what bugs have recently or not so recently been addressed. In addition to this, the Upcoming Fix could also be sorted into this section. In short, splitting the Section into: Fixed//Upcoming fix, Pending//Acknowledged//Under Review & Closed//Rejected would help clarify what the state of bugs are, and make it easier for us, the players, to see what is going on and add transparency to the matter at hand.

Lastly in terms of existing tags,, the Needs More Info tag seems to be lost in the trees as such. From what I have seen in the bug reporting section, a lot of these are floating around and haven’t had any sort of fate decided. They feel like they are clogging up the report section, and could possibly be made more of an ‘Open to Add to’ kind of report – and be filed separately, making it easier for us to report and notify of any bugs we have found.

Another area in which the bug reporting forum could gain an area of transparency and communication could be through the use of Priority 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 labelling. This will show us what bugs are priority, and show us that they have been actively acknowledged in a better manner than an acknowledged tag. The following bugs are mostly not real… but are merely examples: Priority 1 being a Kill Switch Immediately (EG: Streetwise bug), Priority 2 being of high importance (EG Window on RPD won’t let you vault if you use Finesse), priority 3 being of medium importance (EG, Kate’s Skirt blocks Killer’s View), priority 4 of low importance (EG: Singularity’s Biopod Audio bug, while annoying can be fixed by players while playing), and priority 5 of niche importance (EG: a Totem has spawned slightly wonky, it can still be interacted with)

This is a good start, I also think adding the directions to the logs in the text that automatically is written when you make a bug report. Its so easy to copy paste it into Windows to open the right place, but I cant remember it.

    %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\DeadByDaylight\Saved\Logs

It does not also help that when I try to google this these days, their bastard AI bot shows up with a wrong answer.
Would help me a ton if it was added to bug report's automatic text.
