Suggestion: Adding Recovery Frames to Improve Hitbox and Chase Balance

I recently returned to the game after a break and noticed swing hitbox detection and interactions with windows and objects can feel inconsistent.

Right now, it’s possible to be hit through objects at a distance where the swing starts, which makes it much harder to time pallet drops or use windows effectively. These positions are supposed to give survivors meaningful counterplay, but the current hitbox detection makes them less reliable and affects overall chase balance.

Proposal:
Instead of rewriting hitboxes per killer or reworking object collision (which could be complex or time-consuming), a simpler solution could be to add recovery frames on missed swings — and on the rare occasions when a swing actually collides with an object or pallet. This would:

  • Restore consistent counterplay for survivors in pallet loops and window interactions.
  • Reward timing and positioning, improving skill expression rather than punishing players due to engine quirks.
  • Be low-risk and patch-friendly, improving balance without altering killer kits or map geometry.

This approach could serve as a temporary solution until hitbox detection and collision are properly reviewed. It respects the intended design of each killer while improving the reliability of core gameplay interactions for both survivors and killers.

Would love to hear what others think.
