Pyramid Head changes turns out to be about nothing (personally )
I’m pretty sure everyone here already seen many videos about how BHVR “buffed” this killer, so as a big fun of this main I just played only him during TWD release. Many games. Different addons. Only add-ons or specific builds trying to get max value of it.
And after testing, his whole rework made me feel not concerned, but slightly disappointed.
- Main reason - his flicks are bugged and I didn't notice any considerations from devs about it.
- Cages changes - completely fine. Don’t care really. Gives good survivors a chance, bad will lose anyway. Nothing “free” for both sides. I don't always committed to tunnel every time I cage someone even, so at least me personally wasn't affected that much.
- 10 metres base kit + 4.2 metres.
First change seems good, but second one just wipes out 80% of value from this change.
I know that this speed change were supposed to change his zoning ability, but by personal experience, nothing really change in that matter. You still can zone almost same as before. People who played him by constant fakes and bodyblocking probable don’t feel big difference.
But m2 only enjoyers probably noticed that while his projectile power one of the easiest to dodge compare to all ranged and projectile killers, 4.2 simply punish even more for frequent using of his ability. It’s actually more wisely right now to camp a pallete on him and lock survivor in loop, because in open field if u attempt to catch prerun survivor, u’ll 90% lose even more distance and time than it was before. So u have to use m1 more against good players, limiting yourself by skill a lot. And after having 5th game in a row where people playing by shift W meta and predropping, u realize how actually boring gameplay his change caused.
3. Add-ons.
Probably only thing I considered were beneficial for him.
But even here we have some flaws.
Everything for recovery + addon that making stuns a little bit shorter when using power useless, video tape with 10% barely do anything, burned man painting isn't beneficial (just why attempting encourage missing power, as for springtrap), eggs simply tool for easier tunneling (while they removed actually decent ability to track survivors by trails) , addon for terror radius extremely weak and niche.
Yet we got pretty braindead pallet wiper.
Personally, I find only few addons actually useful. And that’s addons for mangled status(existed before and was underestimated), aura read after m2 hit, exhaustion, Cinderella box, and overhyped combo of black strap and the seal. Better than just 2 addons, still requires more rework.
Overall opinion: we got two busted iri addons, so it makes easier him to play + we nerfed him to 4.2 for making the least funniest strategy of chase “ruuuuuun and skip ” even in higher demand. 10 meters base kit is about nothing because it completely countered by survivor prerunning. It already was easiest and wisest counterplay on him, now it's even more simplified.
Advise: if u really want to keep him 4.2, make cooldown after hitting his power (not after cancelling ) shorter (Cinderella box base kit). Or completely rework the way how his trails are traveled, because that big red glow way that alerting u before hitting is just making high distance shots with 4.2 speed less encourageble.
If I understand cages changes, this one for me is an artificial attempt to make both playing and dodging him braindead. His reworks it seems was barely consulted with his mains, and it makes me think even more serious reworks of other killers like Trickster or Myers will be same. About nothing + changes that after testing leave some weird afterfeeling.
Pyramid Head even isn’t that popular. Why reworking him in such way stays as a biq question.

I know he isn’t that important than fog vials or current bugs, but I feel no one talking about this and that just makes me feel he is forgotten as soon as bloggers hyped about his change :( At least I wish to discuss with other phead mains, maybe I’m just overcomplicate everything

I kinda feel bad this post went under the radar…
I haven’t played that much since the recent changes, so I’m still holding back on making a super firm statement, but ye… I honestly think lowering Alternate Movement to 4.2 was a really bad call. It just makes the whole W-shift meta even worse.
A lot of killers basically get punished for actually learning and mastering their power, instead of just playing for the short M1 / close range in most situations. And that sucks. New changes shouldn’t push even more killers into that direction. M2 should feel rewarding (especially on abilities that can be dodged well if the survivor knows what they’re doing), not even more punishing.
Compared to some others, I’m more of an “efficiency player” myself – I don’t always try to squeeze every flashy use out of my power (if I wanted that, I’d play Sekiro lol). So I don’t feel the difference as strongly as tes might… but it’s still really noticeable. And I totally get what people like tes are pointing out – I’ve seen the same thing and it’s honestly a shame.
Going for shots in the open was never really worth it… and it’s still not worth it.
And yup, I also think the move from 4.4 to 4.2 wasn’t needed at all, considering all the other changes that came with it.Just my pov.
Nothing really deep or analytical since I haven’t played enough, but I just thought it was such a shame this post got buried, so I wanted to bump it again.
