Learning how to COUNTER The Legion
Hello guys, what's up? I love to play as and against Legion and most of my posts are about this killer, but not a lot of people know how to counter their power, so I'm gonna be walking through a game from the best Legion main (Tatariu) where survivors played well against him and did very well using every resource efficiently. Let's get to the review.
As you can see on the start of the video, Tatariu is using a very weak set of perks and add-ons and relying on Legion's power and basic killer's mindgames to play the match. At 1:38, Tat gets the first Feral Slash on Alan Wake and proceeds to run after Vittorio Toscano, only to get interrupted by a pallet stun, which prevents Legion from gaining chained hits. Notice that Vittorio hasn't mended until 2:12, far away from the killer and, despite Tatariu taking advantage of the team's mistake of grouping up by shack, he doesn't get the 5th hit down because Vittorio starts to run away from the killer and prevents the usage of their ability completely. Notice that, by 3:01, Steve heals to counter the perk Thanatophobia, which only has a meaningful impact if all survivors are injured, and, as soon as he sees Toscano get hit by the main building, he starts to run away to a safer loop to prevent the hit. Steve does eventually get hit by 3:21 with a basic attack, but Alan Wake is also healed, countering the Thanatophobia power, hindering Legion's gameplay to that of a basic M1 killer.
Even if the team makes the same mistake of grouping up in 3:25, Legion still can't get the 5th hit down since Vittorio is too far away and is finishing the 2nd generator while the killer as 0 hooks. By 4:05, Tatariu gets his first down, while Steve healed once again to prevent Thana.
By 4:52, Alan makes the mistake of unhooking Vittorio while Legion is in Feral Frenzy, but even with 3 Feral Slashes and Steve being on line of sight, Tat still doesn't have enough time to hit the 4th Feral Slash and get the Frenzy down due to the usage of the Exhaustion perk Dramaturgy, which allows the survivor to gain 25% extra speed for 3 to 5 seconds. At 5:28, Legion finally gets the hit on Steve (which activates the Nurse's perk) and at 5:55 they get a Frenzy down due to the collective mistake of allowing the killer to chain hits (PS: If Sheva had started running as soon as she saw Alan Wake get hit or if she ran to the edge of the map, Tatariu wouldn't be able to get the Feral Slash and the 5th hit down).
At 6:35, even if Tat is able to get 3 chained hits, he isn't able to put a survivor in the dying state simply because Vittorio didn't unhook Sheva, so basic knowledge and awareness of the game is enough to counter the killer. By 7:13, Legion gets, once again, 3 Feral Slashes, but since Vittorio hasn't mended, they aren't able of of doing anything, but cancel their ability and chase after the Steve bot and get the down (mostly because it's a bot and they are dumb).
For the 6th time, at 8:12, the killer gets 3 chained hits after Vittorio makes the mistake of unhooking Steve in front of Legion while they're using their ability, but since Sheva healed (at 8:04) far away from Tatariu, he can't get the Frenzy down and lost the slowdown from Thanatophobia (even if Sheva is now under the influence of the perk Gift of Pain, which slows down her action's speeds).
At 8:50, the second generator is completed and Thana is active again after Legion gets a single Feral Slash on Sheva. At 9:18, we see Tat getting a hit on Alan Wake by the main building, but since every survivor is far apart from each other, he can't get another Feral Slash and proceeds to chase after Sheva as a basic M1 killer.
At 9:44, the third generator is completed while Sheva is getting chased by shack and the 4th gen is being repaired far away from the chase, meaning that Legion has no map pressure and eventually will lose the match. Notice that, after the generator is completed, Vittorio healed in the distance to counter, once again, the Nurse's perk, but only to avoid the slowdown, even if he wasted a bit of time healing Alan Wake and Steve, who get hit shortly afterwards, allowing the killer to get 3 consecutive hits for the 7th time in this match, but Tatariu is not able to get the 4th Feral Slash on Vittorio (PS: Even if your teammates are bad, like Alan Wake and Steve, the bot, it doesn't actually mean that Legion will be able to use their power, since it needs the missplay of all the survivors to actually work)
With not enough map pressure and very little hook stages, Legion is only delaying the inevitable loss of this match, so the only thing they can do is wait for a mistake from the survivors, which happens when Alan Wake gets downed at 12:17, but it has very little impact on the game since it's his first hook stage and the 4th generator gets completed at 12:34.
After Tat misses an attack on Alan at 13:18, who's being tunneled, Sheva gets healed 3 seconds later to deactivate, once again, the slowdown of the perk Thanatophobia. The streamer hits Alan after his power cooldown at 13:35 which is followed by, at 13:38, the completion of the final gen, which activates Alan's Adrenaline perk and allows Tatariu to hit him one more time since the mend was healed by that perk, followed by a hit on Steve, then another on Sheva, who's opening the gate and, eventually, she gets down after 5 consecutive hits of Feral Frenzy, but little does that matter, since the exit gate is open and the survivors just need to play the endgame and get out. Knowing this, the killer just abandons the match that was already lost long time ago.
