38 min queue time for killers :(
It's really bad. I like that we can play as survivors as we wait, thank you to the people who implemented that, however the queue times remain abominable :( I've never seen that in a video game. It's a shame as I love 2v8.
I think if you offered skins for playing survivors maybe it would lessen the queue time for killers. I don't think people care that much about blood points.

Yeah, the solution is to make survivor more appealing from a gameplay perspective. Offering incentives is just a bandaid fix. The easiest way to do that would be more classes, like a chest-based class, a totem-based class, classes similar to Escapist but with different exhaustion perks, etc.

I agree 100%. Even after doing that while I think it will help queue times, I don't feel it will be a huge improvement noticed since the popular demand is to play killer with your friend ya know?

It's always been more of a Killer-focused mode. Not that that's a bad thing at all, but it needs to have a stronger focus on pleasing Survivor in order to work. As long as duos exist for Killers, I think you could add really anything to Survivor and it wouldn't affect the appeal of the mode.

It also has to include changes for certain killers. Legion and Oni are the two who come to mind.

Yeah, I agree for sure. Killer is always going to be the more popular role in 2v8 because it's where the new and interesting gameplay is at. But they definitely could improve the survivor experience by introducing more class variety. I was really hoping we'd see a new class with this version, but instead they basically removed one.
I understand there were some scenarios where Guide was very overpowered (SWFs basically) but the sensible solution would've been to tone the class down rather than outright replace it. They could've lowered the numbers or made it so the Guide powers don't stack/proc with other Guides (or both).
Guide was my favourite class before they reworked it, I don't really like the new effects sadly which is really hurting my enjoyment of 2v8.

I agree and totally get it. Guide was fun. I have always been the medic player anyways but I have branched out to scout at least. Being a construction worker is pretty fun. ^^

Imagine waiting 40 min for a game and the last survivor decide to ddos the server so you dc without any challenge done and all progress lost. that happened to me twice tonight..

Oni needs number tweaks. He needs to be in his power a little less. Right now, as soon as he gets his power once, he'll basically be in it for the rest of the game.
Legion needs… To be honest I think Legion needs removed. He's one of the killers whose power is not suited to a 2v8 format, and I really thought they wouldn't add him for that reason (or at least wouldn't add him so soon). He's balanced on the principle that he gets the first hits for free, but needs to chase normally for the downs. But when you add a second killer into the mix, that goes out the window and it turns into Legion injuring everyone with minimal effort, and then the whole team becomes easy pickings for the second killer.
Removing Legion is an unrealistic request though, it would upset too many people to loose content which means we're kinda stuck with him. The problem is with the way his power is fundamentally designed, which number tweaks won't fix IMO. I just hope that as they add more killers, the pool of Legion players will get diluted. l also hope that they don't make the same mistake by adding Plague or Ghoul (without giving them appropriate changes for the mode).

BHVR didn't account that people who would only want to play survivor before would now think "hey, let's play some killer matches too". I had an average time between 10 to 15 minutes in the last 2v8 and now it's 25 to 30.
Also do something about Legion. It's bad even for one of the killers.
I'm getting tired of waiting 30 min for a match and it's Legion for a partner 80% of the matches.6 -
Just play while you wait man, it will surely fix a problem of a now double-increased time of killer queue

All depends what killers are there if nemesis and slinger then they best option is teaming which means faster downs for way less preasure so then it becomes survivor sided, map and looptiles play huge role too if you get saloon with weaker loops in between strong ones then the map favors more killer and fathers chaphel have many jungle gyms and those long wall loops two near each other which are hard to loop as killer and way harder to mindgame with four scouts against m1 its hard to get downs there. On avarege this mode is killer sided because theres no mmr, people play more stronger and fun killers like wesker,blight,huntress even wraith is here strong, last biggest factor is legion who is almost in every duo which comunicates making this mode way harder than it should be.

Play shile you wsit is great and one of best things devs came out but his problem is that he has to wait 38 minutes thats 4 maybe even 5 survivor games for ond killer game which isnt good. On the other hand play while you wait is the right thing that can save this game mode, everybody wants to play killer and there are less survivors but now you have to play some survivor before you can play killer which solves the problem.

The queues became 38 minutes only after Play while you wait feature was introduced. In previous 2v8's they were up to 20 minutes. So effectively what Play while you wait did is heavily worsened queue times. How is that a good thing? Play while you wait IS the reason why queue times became so long.
The only people who benefit from this dont care what role they play. So they could've sticked playing survivor just as well. But the people who wanted to play killer now need to wait twice as long.
Trading such a massive wait time increase for ability to play something you dont want to is not a healthy thing.

There are probably more people who only want to play Killer and letting others reduce queue time for them instead of pitching in which is why it's not working.

If everyone who wanted to play killer queued up as killer without the play while you wait system then wait times would probably be even longer. It might be that the ability to do something other than just sit and wait encourages more people to queue up but that doesn't mean they would have queued up as survivor. They might have just not even bothered with this game mode.
When I've queued up as killer I've gotten 2, sometimes 3 survivor matches in before my killer match is up. It could have been up to 4 if I hadn't just waited when time was below 1 minute. That's at least mostly compensating for the 1 killer match I get to have in exchange for dealing with the nth legion + whoever for the evening.
Personally I hope they roll this feature out to all queues in all game modes.

Sorry but i do not understand your point. You say that just because there is an ability to spend time playing survivor in between killer queues, its sufficient enough for players who prefer killer role, and it offsets for them massive downside of ~+18 increased minutes(38 total) queue time? And if it werent for that ability, they would've not play this game mode? Doesnt make any sense to me
There was always an ability to alt-tab and play something else or do something around the house while waiting for queue.And the queue times were way shorter.
Like i said this feature benefits streamers and players who dont care what role they play(or like mostly survivor-preferred players), and antagonizes players who prefer killer role.
Personally I hope they roll this feature out to all queues in all game modes.

I'm not sure even this would "fix" the problem. I stopped playing 2v8 tonight and went to normal 1v4 because 2v8 just isn't fun as survivor. If you have 4+ matches in a row where you get stomped, even with the rewards, it feels like you're just feeding into the killer players fantasy and it's not actually a game, it's a pitty anti.
I think the survivor classes are fine, but the number of Gens to complete, Legion, and Oni need some serious looking into.

No, my point is that it isn't affecting queue times like you are saying it is. My argument is that letting killers who would be in the killer queue anyway play a few survivor matches actually helps lower queue times since they're adding to the pool of survivor players.
My preferred solution is to do what they are doing - let people queue up for what they want to play and let them backfill slots in the needed role while they wait to help alleviate queue times for everyone. Your solution seems to be to gatekeep the killer role by making it so unappealing to queue for them that hardly anyone will tolerate doing it.
Why do you think your solution of just making people not want to play the game is healthier? Why do you think a day's worth of data proves anything? Did you compare how many concurrent players are on for this 2v8 vs. the one you're referencing with the 20 minute queue times?
Today is literally the first time I've seen anything higher than 25 minutes for a killer wait time. It's been fine the past 2 days.

Well i dont know from what region you are, im from EU and my queues went up by 15 minutes minimum, im not exaggerating. Playerbase count went up since the last chapter and has nothing to do with 2v8.
In order for killers to fully "compensate" their killer match, they would need to play 4 survivor games for each killer game. Do you think its a way to go? Make some obligatory task to force players to "pay" for their killer match? Its not a bus ticket, its a videogame and people here play what they want, and if they cant they abandon it.
Also what was the main problem we were trying to solve? Queue times didnt get solved as you can see, they got bloated. So 'play while you wait' made a problem worse instead of fixing it. What we had before worked better since it took less time to find a killer match then. Yet you are saying that previous system was driving away players and not this one.

I hope Guide stays like this and never go back to what used to be.
A mode free of gen rushing is a dream that became a reality at least in 2v8.
The only way to consistently win in 2v8 before was tunneling or slugging the Guides to avoid that disgusting unlockable ability.
BUT I have to agree we need more surv classes. There's plenty of perks to use to create new ones.
A Totem class, a Plot Twist one, I don't know. Just PLEASE keep the 2nd chances crap out of 2v8.-6 -

The player base count rising absolutely has an effect on queue times. The only ways it wouldn't is if the new players were split exactly into 4 people wanting to play survivor for every 1 who wants to play killer or if none of the new players played 2v8. Otherwise, why wouldn't it increase queue times - you're literally adding players to the queue.
Also, don't go off estimated queue times if that's what you're doing. I just had an estimated queue time of 28 minutes go by in a single 10 minute survivor match. It's not real time - it's an estimate, and not a particularly accurate one.

It isn't obligatory at all. You can still alt-tab, play on your phone, or do whatever you want if you don't want to play any survivor matches. It's an optional mechanic for those of us who would like to at least play some part of the game we loaded into without twiddling our thumbs for 30 minutes. It also happens to help alleviate queue imbalances when people actually use it.

Actually you're the one saying the old system was driving away players. The only way your argument CAN work is if queue times were so long and boring that it was keeping people from even bothering to queue up as killer. Otherwise why are you arguing play while you wait is increasing killer queue time?
You are literally arguing that queues should be long and boring enough to discourage people from wanting to play killer but not so long and boring that you yourself can't get in a match.
Play while you wait lets people queue up for a role they want to play while giving them the option to have some fun playing the other half of the game while they wait. Assuming we aren't trying to just discourage them from playing the game altogether, this can only help queue times.

The button is there for every survivor player, so they might as well press it. And it doesnt balance itself out like you think it does, because that would imply that each player plays their 4 games survivor for each killer game. In reality what we get is a massively bloated killer queues which lead to increased downtime for killer role in 2v8.
Edit: It actually doesnt even matter how many survivor games would anyone play prior to finding killer match. All that matters is survivor : killer ratio at a current time frame. And by allowing every survivor sign for a killer queue ratio increases 1 : 1, when it should be 4 : 1 to balance out.

And now they are even longer and more boring, but hey, people who dont care about which role they play or people who play for a longer periods of time than others have an access to playing killer in 2v8. No, no. It should START at x10 and increase from there. I'd maybe play this boring slop if i was getting 500-600k BP a game. 2v8 is just DBD vacation time as it ruins everything everytime its up.

As others have sad, as long as Survivor is not made more appealing in 2v8 it will not change. And I dont think that BHVR wants it, since they are once again trying to make Survivors play with massive BP-Gains, which probably solves the problem a little bit, not not enough to have a good amount of queuetimes as Killer.
In the end, 2v8 is very killer-sided, meaning that you will not have as much fun as Survivor. And it is also not really a novelty for Survivors, since you are basically doing the same as in 1v4 just with more Gens to do, so you do more of the most unfun part of Survivor gameplay.
And until this changes, we will be stuck with long Killer queues for 2v8. And this is without any other problems which might be in the gamemode (e.g. certain Killers).

So you do want killer queue times to be so long and boring that a lot of people who want to play killer just give up. You just said as much right here. Funny that you only seem to care when it's YOU that can't tolerate the queue time but are perfectly fine with using slightly shorter but still long queue times to block others from playing the role they want to queue for.
If the play while you wait system goes away and still the exact same number of killers queue that would have if the system is in place then queue times will be even longer than they are now.

15 minutes difference is not a "slightly shorter".
Answer yourself this: whats more likely to drive away killer players 15 mins queue or 30 mins.
If the system goes away, there will be no same number of killers queuing, because survivors wil have to choose what role they prefer to play more, instead of going for both simultaneously.

Seriously though, 2v8 was actually pretty enjoyable the first couple of rounds. Back then it felt much more balanced than the main game and I actually had enough hope that we could see the trials through again instead of feeling like the odds were stacked against us before we even built up any momentum. As bad as the RE crossover was, even it had its moments thanks to the Yellow Herbs. But now? It just sucks to play. And for it to be this dead in the water by the FIFTH iteration? That's honestly kind of impressive.

Both will drive players away, and I notice you're shortening your times now. Play while you wait lets you at least play a match while you wait - and that will bring players. Isn't that what your complaining about - more players clogging up the queue? The alternative is for people to just not play killer when they want to - and you, for some reason, are arguing that's a better experience.
The amount of times you've tap danced around saying you just don't want as many killers to queue up when that's the only logical result of what you're saying is very telling.
I don't know why you can't admit you want less people to queue for killer but as long as you refuse to admit that then yeah, you may as well stop responding.

The alternative for people who wanted to play killer was there all the time. It was to PLAY KILLER and have SIGNIFICANTLY LESS QUEUE TIME. Its that simple. That system balanced itself out better than the current band-aid fix. And thats the end of the story. But you can keep twisting my words to make me look "bad" instead of arguing all you want.

You are simply incorrect.
- Right now people who want to play killer are queuing up to play killer.
- Right now some of those people are using the play while you wait system to not just sit and stare at a queue screen.
- Right now, if those people were still queuing but weren't helping to compensate for high killer queue times by playing survivor while they wait then you'd have - say it with me now - LONGER QUEUE TIMES THAN YOU ALREADY HAVE.
The only balancing mechanic a plain queue system has is being frustrating enough to get people to just quit. Period.
I don't need to twist your words - your meaning is clear. You want less players to queue up for the killer role so you can have better queue times. My issue is that you're trying to disguise it as a complaint about a system that actually makes the game better for many people.

Remove Legion, add back the herb items, take out the maps they added in the previous version that are way too small for 2v8 (torment creek and wretched shop are basically just the normal maps with some extra pallets), add some more roles

So zou are getting longer ques than previous 2v8 modes, for me its getting longer and longer each 2v8 mode the first was 15 minutes plus minusbut then 20, then 25 and now Im on 27-35 minutes which are 3 survivor games to one killer match but if it would be more than its bad.

Understandable. Killer is more fun. Survivor buffs are still severely lacking. Who thought Legion was a good idea and giving Huntress permanent wall hacks in the game? All of these oversights are way nobody plays survivor.

Yes, queue times, you know that primary thing everyone was complaining about, which wasnt fixed by this new band-aid system. Instead it was made worse for a trade-off being able to play survivor role. Stop pretending like people who wanted didnt have an ability to play killer previously. They did and things established with lesser killer q times than they are now. Significantly lesser. Lesser = better. Your third point doesnt matter since its totally made-up and doesnt represent how things end up in the game.

Ok, lets try some basic numbers and logic.
100 killers and 400 survivors queue up on the old system where they just have to sit and wait.
vs.
100 killers and 400 survivors queue up on the new system and 20 killers play a couple survivor matches while they wait.
Which scenario do you think will have a lower queue time for the killers? Obviously the second one. The play while you wait system is adding to the pool of survivors, thereby getting killers in matches faster.
The only things that will get you the result you want are to either lower the number of killers or increase the number of survivors. Play while you wait increases the number of survivors.
But yeah im an awful egoistic guy who wants everything better for myself, you got me!!

-It's nice to have some short maps for a change. Things get more chaotic. Wonder what'll happen when a very likely KONAMI 2v8 happens adding Dracula, Pyramid Head AND Midwich.

-NEVER bring the herbs back.
-NEVER change Guide back to what used to be.
No new killer or classes were added to this iteration to focus on QoL changes, but Wesker still bugs when grabbing survs, not to mention that in the 3rd time he was still able to walk and hit and since the previous one he now get's completely soft locked unable to do anything, so besides Play While You Queue BHVR did nothing to 2v8 basically.
Lery's and the movie theather seems to be EXACTLY the same maps as 1v4. Only Shattered Square was changed.-4 -
People that "don't care" what role they play? Does that mean people who play both? So like, most people? I'd say what's not healthy is a system that caters to people who only play half a game. This new one caters to people who play the whole game. Pandering to the small percentage of killer-only players is illogical when 80% of any match is survivors.
I skipped 2v8 entirely last time because survivor was a miserable massacre and killer waits were too long. Now I'm suffering through the massacre for points and I'm able to play killer again. If anything, I've returned to a mode that I'd considered dead to me thanks to the new system. I don't think its perfect, and I'd like more incentives to play survivor (more points, cosmetics, charms, etc) but it's a step in a good direction.
