The devs need to come out of the closet: Just admit you want survivors to be the power role.
I don't know where this design philosophy came from but it's getting ridiculous. The devs are literally forcing killers to play the way the reddit/Twitter survivors say the game should be played.
Over the last few years the devs removed hook grabs, killed "unfun " unique killer playstyles, added regression limits amongst other things. Now killers need to be worried about micromanaging hook states to artificially allow survivors to survive longer ingames.
it's nonsense that killers get neutered everytime they play efficient, look at protecting 3 gens, the devs made it harder for killers to do that, killers got punished and survivors get rewarded.
The devs do not care about the killer experience. They want survivor to be the power role

At a certain point, the game drifts closer to PVE. More than anything, this patch seems like it's striving to give more autonomy to Survivor and change the Killer meta, the same way they do all the time. It just hasn't been this big of a basekit one since anti-3 gen (in my opinion).

Killers stop playing

People don't remember this but years ago during the one of the live streams they introduced some stuff for survivors and then someone said well we have some cool stuff for Killers too and two devs there literally rolled their eyes. Killers don't have any advocates left on the dev team and frankly I'm not sure they have anyone that understands the bones of their game and what made it successful. They're trying to ape other failed asyms by shifting power to the survivor role. How'd that work out for them?

killers got punished by survivor's mistakes.
since 2016.
if survivors play right, the survivor even can't be found.
even be found, survivor can loop 5gen if survivor play right.
6 -
Remember the famous civ 6 line. "Killer doesn't feel good? Just play something else!"
9 -
This entire post makes it sound like you haven't played a single match since 2016.
-2 -
Was that limited to Killer? I can't remember. I know that boneheaded hockey comment was really annoying too. PR nightmares honestly.
1 -
They want the killers to basically be bots. Strategy? What's that? Just mindlessly chase the first survivor you see, eventually get a hook, and use your BBQ basekit to mindlessly chase the next survivor. Repeat a couple more times, and by then the gens will all be done. Then you get to watch a fun little dance party at the exit gates!
Don't protect gens. Don't generate pressure. Just mindlessly chase survivors until they finish gens.
Honestly… at this point they should just get rid of the killer role entirely and replace it with mildly competent bots so the survivors are never, ever, more than mildly inconvenienced.
11 -
At the rate they're adding Killer bots to the game, you're gonna be waitin'.

No, I won't. I'm one of the killer mains dropping the game. I'm calling this the "Go Play Silksong" update. Maybe I'll get into challenge runs or speed runs on a game that doesn't punish me for playing well.
12 -
If you're able to, more power to you. I don't make any claims that DBD is a good game. I'm sure a lot of us would be better off if we stopped playing, at least marginally (in my opinion of course).
-2 -
I dropped the game for over a year a couple of years ago. I haven't felt the need to play in weeks. I hate 2v8, Fog Vials, and my killer is janky af atm. This update is just a nail in the coffin.
2 -
Maybe you'll find something enjoyable again. I like doing event challenges even if the game sucks, so that's my reason to play usually. Offers lots and lots of breaks and still completes the Rift somehow. Uglier cosmetics in the Rift even saves me 10 bucks every now and then lmao
-2 -
I don't think so. I like to compete. I don't want to play the "Dancing Monkey with a Weapon that He's Not Allowed to Use Too Often" role that essentially exists to entertain survivors as they bag the exit gates.

Different strokes.

The hockey comment aged pretty poorly. Now the goalie can only block the puck 8 times before they have to just let the other team score 🙄
6 -
yes, the survivor now is so worse than that.
when survivor that don't get those Training wheels, they are more smart and crafty.
before free Borrowed Time, At least they know when to give up on rescue, Focus on repairs.
slug is survivors mistake. they don't carry perk don't use medkit, don't Heal teammates, then they say killer slug.
tunnel, if survivor are good, they Absolutely can loop 5 gen by 4 hit.(2 hit down and be hooked, unhook take 1 hit downed be hooked then unhook get final loop.)
and survivor face saving, heal under hook, use DS、DH、Off the Record force killer tunnel.
The anti-tunnel is overkill to the point of being used against killers.
camp, if first survivor not afk, the survivor team can fix all gen then 3-4 escape.
vigil and Sprint Burst can Pull out the pallete from the void. if killer can see 2 Sprint Burst when in chase. the killer is hit by a pallete.
survivor get free perk:
Borrowed Time
Breakdown's Aura
Babysitter's Suppresses
Mettle of Man's hook trade.
Deliverance's anti camp.Bulk Reassurance
Tenacity90s Unbreakable
I'm curious what else I will give to the survivors afterwards?
After giving these to the survivors, the BEHVR was already on the edge of a cliff because there was nothing left to give.
3 -
Why not protect gens? What changes in this update affect gen protecting? Unless you mean the punishment for tunneling that you get, they literally give a bonus to gen kicks when you get a unique hook.
Sounds like you forgot that BBQ already exists, and the killers using it don't just suddenly turn into mindless bots, and actually still protect gens.-5 -
Regression limit. You can't hold a 3 gen. Trying to do so is just delaying the inevitable.
BBQ is only used by high mobility killers because they're the only ones that can profit from the info. Legion can't do jack about the survivor sitting on a gen all the way across the map.
What will make the killers play like bots is the tunneling/slugging changes on top of the regression limit.
6 -
They're probably just going to add killer bots eventually and remove killer players from the game entirely.
3 -
And it isn't botlike to:
- Hear noise notification
- "Ooh survivor unhook. Mmm, fresh tunnel."
- Walk back to hook
- Chase same survivor and hook
- Repeat
???
-5 -
Victim mentality is unhealthy.
-3 -
No, you have the OPTION to do that. If it is in your best interests. If you feel like it's better to spread pressure, or try to find the guy on death hook, or to go chase a survivor off a necessary gen, you can do that, too. Sometimes, it's better to tunnel. Sometimes it's downright necessary to not get absolutely curb stomped.
The point is, the killer has the autonomy to choose. Now? They either play like a bot and lose, or they try to tunnel and still lose. There are no real options. See survivor, chase survivor. No strategy, no macro gaming.
5 -
The OPTION would be deciding if the game would be won by tunneling the survivor and taking the penalty, or going for a unique hook to get the benefits that those give.
It just sounds like you have the preconceived that not tunneling = loss, so what macro would these changes be removing? If it didn't matter anyways and you'd still get the loss, that doesn't sound like macro gaming to me.-4 -
They're killing cheap tactics that guarantee a cheap win. We all know underperforming killers and perks will be rebalanced if necessary. These are healthy changes to make the game more fun. No, not having fun because you can't abuse the cheap tactic counts.
-4 -
So, this rant seems barely coherent, but I'll try to respond:
if survivor are good, they Absolutely can loop 5 gen by 4 hit
Not in 2025 DbD. Maps are huge dead zones, tiles, pallets, and loops nerfed across the board.
You might've had a point in 2016 with literal infinites, but modern dbd has an average 60 seconds chase time per survivor, for the entire match.
Or, better yet, just post your gameplay of you doing this today. That should make my point for me.
The anti-tunnel is overkill to the point of being used against killers.
There is literally nothing that can be abused in this system. Elusive alone means they can't "force" body blocking.
vigil and Sprint Burst can Pull out the pallete from the void
Are you giving your survivors a 24 second break in the middle of your chases? Spring burst and vigil effects haven't changed in like 6 years (they updated the wording from vigil, but it's literally the same timing).
So, again, let's see some of your gameplay from today. That should answer basically everything pretty quickly. Although I assume you'll have to reinstall the game to do that.

If you believe blind unfiltered numbers then you must think Nurse is the worst killer in the game
2 -
Nowhere do I in any way say or simply that.
In fact, the only time I see people talk about this is to try and discredit kill stats because they don't like them.
While I would love to have a more nuanced discussion of why stats may not always be the "whole picture", I only ever get throw away accounts tossing out one liners with no intention of having a meaningful discussion.
-3 -
Rushing a gen while survivor is being chased or looping on strong tiles are also cheap tactics but they aren't getting nerfed because what else should survivors be doing, right? For some reason eliminating a survivor out of the game asap when needed is bad and killer should shoot it's own foot in order to extend the game so survivors stay in the game for as long as possible. Meanwhile there's no incentive or reason for survivor players to not do gens asap and escape. Logic has left the chat as it seems.
5 -
I've found its pointless using logic with them, basically their saying is: "Rules for thee but not for me"
2 -
Survivor is so tough.
Make DBD not like a Horror game.
If replacement sound effect to 《Tom and Jerry》, You can magically find that nothing is wrong.😂
killer already lost oppression, make killer comical.

This reminds me — Legion is the perfect example of BHVR’s identity crisis. Legion exists, isn’t horror, and isn’t fun — yet they’re still in the game (both 2v8 and 1v4). Why? Because BHVR can point to Legion matches (which either drag on forever in 1v4 or collapse instantly in 2v8) and say “see, survivors aren’t always the power role.” And sure, survivors could win, but most would rather give up than slog through a boring Legion match where the only thing guaranteed is frustration.
But that’s not balance, that’s bad design. Survivors don’t feel powerful against Legion — they feel bored. Killers don’t feel clever playing Legion — they feel cheap. And yet BHVR keeps killers like Legion (and others like Plague, Ghoul, etc.) as a get-out-of-jail card to deflect survivor-sided complaints. It’s a lose/lose: survivors hate it, killers hate it, and the game drags itself down.
Honestly, the solution is to admit that powers built entirely around “free injure with no counterplay” just aren’t it. At least Nurse or Blight can down you outright — playing every match as if you’re permanently Exposed isn’t fun for anyone.

You can't assume your personal disdain for Legion is universal.
