Proposals for improving the beginner experience
I am a huge fan of Dead by Daylight. Having played it for a long time, I would like more people to experience the joy of this game. With that in mind, I would like to offer some suggestions to make the game more enjoyable for new players.
In the current environment, it is difficult for beginners to understand what they should be doing during a match. Even with the addition of countermeasures against camping, tunneling, or crawling, these features are often of little benefit to actual beginners. The current tutorial mainly explains basic controls, and there is a lack of guidance on in-match strategies and decision-making.
Moreover, one of the biggest barriers for beginners to enjoying the game is idle killers. In low-level matches, many killers engage in mechanical play solely to earn Bloodpoints, which prevents new players from having a proper game experience.
Based on these points, I would like to propose the following improvements:
1. A one-match tutorial against BOTs (for both killers and survivors)
• Display pop-ups for basic actions in various situations
• Explain status effects and perks
→ This will help beginners understand how to act during a match.
2. Revise the matchmaking system: switch from a rating system to a rank system
• With a rank system, idle killers remain in the lowest rank, and beginners can quickly move to proper matches
• Under the current rating system, idle killers are concentrated in the low-rating brackets, depriving beginners of the opportunity to learn
I truly love Dead by Daylight and hope that it continues to be a game that many people can enjoy. I sincerely hope you will consider these suggestions for improvement.
