Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

A Plea for BHVR to Add Inventory Management

With the recent rework of maps and keys, several add-ons for the two items were retired. While they are no longer able to be brought into the trials, these add-ons are still visible in Survivors' inventories. BHVR's stated reason for this was to allow players who are collectors to still be able to see their collection of add-ons that they have accumulated over the years. This isn't the first time the developers have made a change for collectors, and it is very encouraging to see them willing to listen to a subset of players' opinions like they have.

I am making this post because not everyone is a collector.

I have been playing this game since late 2016, so I was around back when prestige would completely clear a character's inventory. I've always enjoyed the feeling of having a clean inventory. While having absolutely nothing is very difficult to achieve now that you hold onto everything forever, I've given a lot of effort to make sure that I never had anything in my inventories that I could not use.

The Hawkins map offering, the yellow mori offering, event offerings and add-ons. Anything that was being retired or could only be used during specific events, I made sure that I had none left when the changes would go live or the events would end. It took a lot of games, but it was possible and I managed to rid myself of these items every time.

Map and key add-ons were different. Thanks to the rarity of the items before their rework, I had exponentially more map and key add-ons than I had maps and keys. I desperately wanted to get rid of the retired add-ons before the rework, but it was not possible to do so thanks to the scarcity of the items themselves. Now I am stuck with all of those add-ons, sitting there uselessly.

I wanted to make this post immediately after the update, but I decided to try to just ignore it. I've tried adjusting to having them locked for a few weeks, but I just can't get used to it. I'm aware that this is most definitely a me problem, but whenever I play I can't help but think about how they're there and it makes me feel agitated.

All that I'm asking for is a tool that will allow me to rid myself of these add-ons. I want the ability to throw away items, add-ons, and offerings that I do not want. I want to be able to not worry about what's next on the chopping block, especially since the offerings system as a whole is now on the radar for a rework.

I heard that on one of the recent Reddit AMAs, the devs said that they would be looking to see if there is interest in such a system being added to the game. I cannot speak for the entire playerbase, but I know that I'm not the only person on the forums who has asked for this. Please, BHVR. For the players that care about how their inventories look, a trash system would mean the world.
