Tutorials need updating
With the possible anti tunnel and slug changes I think the tutorials for both sides could use some updating. I replayed through both the survivor and killer tutorials and they are so bare minimum that they barely will help players new to the game, especially with how big it has become. While the game manual may fill in some of the blanks it's still better to have the players actually do the actions/interactions and see some of the additional tips in the playthrough itself. While matchmaking should only match new players with other new players there are plenty of times where that doesn't happen, new players need little bit more than the current tutorials bare minimum to be able to stick it out in a match.
Survivor tutorial
At the start give option to change the button configuration that way players, especially console, can adjust before they get used to it. Have a description so new players know difference between actions and interactions for survivors, the one that seems to cause the most issues with countering killer powers or healing near pallets. Yes, this should be something people should check before starting a game BUT most just load in and play without checking the controls, especially if they are to play a tutorial first. Honestly if you could change the default for new players that would be amazing.
There's nothing about hook states in the survivor tutorial when you play through it, only in the game manual and the killer tutorial. In the survivor tutorial it's just if you get hooked and are one of the last two you can attempt escape. Before the go next changes went through I hated that it had new players attempt escape because it definitely sent a mixed message about attempting vs waiting to be unhooked but the tutorial now has them miss out on the second hook state skill checks - and there is nothing about the hook skill checks in the game manual. The survivor tutorial should mention that the hook stages are timed and you should rescue your teammate before they enter the next stage.
The locker hiding - Meg does a rush into the locker so it would make a loud noise but the tip is "don't be seen going into a locker" when it should be "don't be seen or heard" because not only does she make a loud noise but even slowly going in makes the locker squeak.
Hatch - while it gets mentioned in the killer tutorial and the game manual it should be mentioned here too that the killer can close the hatch to prevent you from escaping and starting end game collapse if you are the last survivor.
Chests/items. In the original tutorial you went to the basement to find a chest. Now not only is the basement gone from the tutorial but there's nothing about chests/items. There should be something to let survivors know what different items do and that chests exist, especially since killers like Wesker and Nemesis require you search a chest to get spray/vaccine. While chests/items do have a description in the game manual having the player see/interact in the tutorial would be better.
Totems. While they are mentioned in the game manual this is another that should have a survivor interaction in the tutorial. Use a hex totem so a new survivor can see/hear what a hex totem looks like and what it takes to cleanse it. Should also be a tip that stopping midcleanse will reset progress.
If it makes it to live the new anti tunneling bonuses the killer will receive when not tunneling, specifically basekit BBQ. New survivors should know that basekit the killer will have times they can see survivor auras.
Killer instinct. While not every killer has this a decent portion of the killer roster does. The tutorial should address killer instinct somehow so new players know what it is and how it works.
Killer tutorial.
Survivor items used against the killer. Even though you see the pallet stun in the survivor tutorial you still experience it in the killer tutorial. There should be one for survivor items, like something for flashlights and how to avoid getting blinded - game manual just says watch out about being blinded, really not helpful for a new player.
The kick limit on a single generator. It's mentioned in the game manual but would be good to add to the tip when you kick the gen in the tutorial.
The new antitunnel and slug information if these make it past the PTB to live. The current tutorial will need bit of adjusting to get across that you should alternate hooks. Should definitely have it in the tutorial and not just a section in the game manual.
This is just nitpicky but should require Trapper to pick up a trap rather than it just appearing in his hand before he places it down.
Survive with bots/Kill the bots
You should be able to go through and select different killers for both sides for the tutorial bot matches. For survivor have the killer bots that have already been added to 2v8 and continue adding as more killer bots are added. When you go to select the killer for that mode have it give a run down on what their power(s) is with possible ways to counter (like for Trapper you can disarm traps and help teammates caught in traps if nearby). On killer side this can be the chance for players to test out killers they don't already own (help new players decide who to buy first) and for survivors to see what the powers look like from the killer side - like for killers with killer instinct how does it work with their powers. Can give a little tutorial on how to use the power(s) before the match starts so the player knows how it works before getting into a chase with a bot. While you can do bot matches in custom mode the tutorial bot match will be better starting ground for a new players and letting people test a killer they're interested in outside an event mode without feeling under pressure from being an actual match. This will also be good for any players that may have missed out playing for whatever reason - survivors can see what new killer they could face and killers can see if they want to buy any of the new killers.
Game manual update: Add some short videos or pictures for examples, especially if not in the tutorial. Like with damaging generators maybe a video that shows normal kick and one that is the last kick you can do to the gen that so new players can see the difference. Or pictures with all the information you get from the HUD - maybe little gifs to show chase icon, different killer status effects on survivor like pigs reverse beartrap timer counting down, hook timer counting down, etc.
*Edit - even though antitunnel and slug are getting shelved the tutorial should still get updated because there's plenty unrelated to it that should be added/adjusted.
