My take on the Anti Tunnel

Ill be brief. We're those changes harsh? Yes. But... I believe we are on the right path. Nobody likes to be tunneled out immediately. You get denied a game, get no points hardly. It sucks.

Should the killer be given incentives to go for hooks over quick kills? Yes. Because its more fun even for killers to chase. You just lose matches by chasing and spreading hooks so its flawed.

We need an anti tunnel mechanic to aid survivors. Bc survivors enjoy the chase too. Its the most fun aspect for both sides.

We just need a healthy incentive to not tunnel the survivor and give them a chance to play, while at the same time give the killer a good incentive to go for hooks. We need to meet in the middle to make the spreading of hooks a win win for both sides so it's healthy.

The million dollar question is how.

While nobody likes being tunneled, many survivors have a very lax idea of what tunneling is. Tunneling to me (as a player of both sides) is when the killer purposely goes after the same survivor right off the hook. However it is not simply hooking the same person back to back and it for sure is not failing to get 6 total hooks before someone is sacrificed or killed. If I hop on a generator right after I am unhooked and the killer finds me before they manage to hook someone else, that's not tunneling, it's taking advantage of a situation that I put myself in.

This is the problem the patch on the PTB had. It would punish the killer in BOTH scenarios. In my opinion, the first part of the anti-tunnel with the new "Elusive" mechanic was great (though not too keen on the loss of Killer Instinct as that interferes heavily with Legion's power even if they don't want to tunnel) but all anti-tunnel measures should cease with a Conspicuous Action as you are no longer being tunneled at that point (again, I say this as a player of both sides.)

I gave my opinion on how… it's on the feedback page.

we'll have to see what the devs choose to do

The way I saw it, the system was punishing killers for following the rules because survivors could manipulate it, and the game doesn't take into account getting a kill while spreading hooks under 6 hook states.

That said, I would have still liked for it to go through with the right adjustments for a simple reason: build diversity.

As a killer who doesn't typically tunnel unless absolutely required, I'm kinda tired of survivors always baiting with OTR and DS, as well as bodyblocking with endurance. I want to see more interesting builds. Same goes for gen speeds, I'd love for killer side to get some better tools (mainly the M1's) to combat optimizing the gens so I can do more whacky killer builds without relying on regression too much.

But, what's done is done, and we just have to see what they're planning to do next PTB.

I think unhook protection was fine, I would probably lower duration a bit, because 30 seconds was a lot.

Penalties was definetly bigger issue and I would say simply overkill, they already made tunneling harder by better unhook protection while giving killers reason to go for different survivors…

I think the rewards were also not best simply because BBQ/Pop work way better for top tier killers, which doesn't make sense to give them basekit.

Slugging feature was fine except tenacity effect. That should not be a thing imo.

I hope all the killers are able to come to a consensus and let the devs and the rest of the player base know what they've deemed is fair. I'm on tenterhooks in anticipation! (pun intended)
