why not audio ingame?
In my opinion and a lot of players feel this way there is a huge gap between solo players and swf due to the fact swf have audio with external apps. Every balance change to improve solo player experience is criticized because it will make swf too powerful. So it's pretty obvius the way the game should evolve is to close the gap and add comms for solo players. It is the only way to have a decent balanced game instead of discussing changes that will change the game entirely like anti tunneling with the chance of destroying the gameplay for high mmr killers against swf.
I'm very surprised some streamers just ignore this. I respect otzdarva a lot but it's weird he just release a video of 10 mistakes devs are making talking about skillchecks and big skins. I agree with some stuff he says but not talking about the big elephant make me question what the community really want of this game, and if the devs already convinced this big streamers to ignore the subject. A lot of survivor streamers play with friends or viewers constantly talking each other and seem to enjoy an easy game that is obviously not balance well and its basically punishing survivor players for playing alone. Its pretty sad to see that almost ten years a game with this disparity and i see no way this game ever is going to feel serious or have a path to be more balance and fair. My question why? why is this not discussed enough? why the community just accept this? I understand at the beginning the game was intended to play in the fog, 4 survivors having to overcome the difficulties by just making actions and hoping succes by helping and receiving help of others strangers survivors. What started as some minigame with a couple of killers and perks evolved into this big and wonderful game that we appreciate but now it's 2025. The discussions about balancing and fairness are taking over the experience, the toxicity grows. there are people with thousands of hours and new players that want a balance and fair game complains about actions and balancing issues and for real, be honest for once and just say it, the game needs to close the gap. Every pvp multiplayer game has audio ingame or chat, i dont know if i can name other games here but you know the games it's very weird to play a game that requires collaboration without communication in-game and this idea of playing a multiplayer with intended no communication is weird to find just for the fact people can use discord and destroy the balance which is what happens in dbd.
Please community, put more effort in making this change the priority, let's close the gap and start balancing the game with a common base for all survivors. Sure a lot of killers will need rework and perks, but its pretty much what will happen with all the antitunneling changes and if we don't discuss this now that the changes are holdback then it will be too late. This post will not be heard but if we talk about this more and more we can make a difference.

Even though comms are considered an acceptable part of the game nowadays, I think the developers are afraid to open this pandora's box because of how toxic endgame chat already is and the effect it could have on the casual community.
One of the biggest reasons I don't really play Survivor is because I'm very afraid of letting other people down in a PvP setting. I'm not saying that to argue the game's direction should be at the mercy of that fact, but because I don't think I'm the only one. The only way to play Survivor is to spend many, many hours looking like an idiot and failing horribly, and it only takes one really, really bad VC interaction for a person to give up during that painful process. (of course, the mute button exists, but that just prevents that one interaction from turning into three, five, etc. It doesn't prevent the initial incident unless you auto mute everyone)
Imagine how many last-second hook saves before the next stage are going to instead turn into some drunk guy screaming at the whole team because he assumes nobody's coming for him. Or how many fun Ghostface jumpscares are going to be followed by a Survivor calling you a slur for getting downed so quickly. Or how many completely new players, who just failed the first skillcheck they've ever seen, are going to be welcomed to DbD by three people berating them.
It's very possible, if not probable, that those fears of mine are overblown. But honestly, if I was asked to choose, I would vote for experimenting with gameplay buffs to soloQ players rather than giving them voice chat. I don't think VC is a meritless idea or anything, but that's just my preference

100% agree that coms or something to that effect needs to be added to solo to bring it in line with swf. balancing the game would be far easier. imo SWF is whats breaking the game at the moment. the coms alone pretty much nagate any stealth build because if 1 survivor can see where the killer is in the distance, they all know where the killer is which makes stealth almost impossible. SWF can negate stealth builds so why cant solo?
i dont see any reason why solo coms cant be an option, if people dont want coms they can turn it off. but if they want it they should have that option. TCM had coms and a few matches i played there was usually atleast 1 guy basically commentating on whats going on which was handy for me and the team as we knew where the killers were, what was going on on what they intended to do. obviously coms cant be banned because how do you ban someone talking if they are playing together in the same room, but it does seem odd that people cant use external things to provide them with a tactical advantage but thats exactly what coms does for survivors….provides them with a tactical advantage. This tactical advantage means killers need buffs to compete which then means solo players have a harder time keeping up with the buffed killers.
Gameplay buffs for solo players might work but it would need to take into account that 1 solo player can be teamed with an SWF so having a 3 man SWF and a buffed solo player might cause issues. And the are many TTVs around, if they went into a match solo and got the solo players buffs people can still join their stream and benefit from the SWF coms which could cause an unintentional buff to SWF which we really dont need.

in other multiplayer games there is toxicity i wont deny that, but there is toxicity in dbd today aswell. The way other games resolve this issue is to have report option so a person with a few reports gets a voice chat time ban and if that continues is a permanent ban. Other way is simply turn off voice chat and play the rest of the match without audio, basically like today. In this games that i talk about when you get a toxic player sure the game is rough but today the game is rough for solo anyway. So yeah i agree with you its not all pink colour it has its downside but i think its an improvement.
Sadly any balancing change to improve only solo will be dismiss since the company want players to bring their friends, 'ive heard streamers say any change like that is basically "punishing" swf. thats why im certain the only way to even the game is add features to the whole game that will make swf and solo closer, and comms ingame is pretty much the only thing.0 -
i agree 100%. i've seen oh tofu and friends play against a ghostface in a streak, i felt so bad for the killer. He had no chance of doing anything. And sure with voice chat some killers will need rework but we know the game has issues today, killers sometimes have a bad time solo survivors sometimes have a bad time and the way to move forward is make the base changes and deal with neccesary reworks, the sooner the better.
