Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Krasue isn't broken -- You aren't playing against her properly

I dont normally post on the Dead by Daylight forums but I have to make my voice heard on this. I want to preface this post by stating that Krasue is a very strong killer, undoubtedly, but she does NOT need to be nerfed into the dirt in order to make her more fair to go against.

I also want to preface this by stating that I play both survivor and killer equally, though I tend to prefer playing killer as its more exciting.

There is a common thread I'm seeing across multiple forum posts, and that is that this killer has absolutely no counterplay. This statement is completely false. I have been playing Krasue for the past couple of days, and I can assure you, if you know what you are doing you can ABSOLUTELY counter this killer. I have had multiple survivors who understand how Krasue's power works loop me perfectly fine, forcing me into positions where I have to break off chase in order to pressure other areas of the map. Many of the wins I've received on this killer was in large part due to VERY poor play from the survivors and not necessarily me "outplaying" them all of the time. I would greatly appreciate it if you took the time to read my points about how I believe there is counterplay to this killer and what survivors can do to start making improvements.

First, the big one — her pallet vault. People site this as if she instantly vaults a pallet and can hit you immediately, and I think people do not understand how it works. After Krasue vaults a pallet, there is an animation lock and a long delay before you are able to control your character again. What survivors can do against this is very simple — if Krasue vaults a pallet, you can simply run around the loop to the other side, and there's nothing she can do to stop you, because of the animation lock holding her in place.

Second, headlong flight. I've seen a lot of survivors make really bad plays while I am in headlong flight, and I'm assuming its because they didn't understand how it works. Headlong flight has basically no delay when you begin the flight, and a small delay when you end the flight. That small delay at the end of the flight is longer than you think. The counterplay for this at a loop is also extremely simple — as Krasue enters headlong flight, vault a pallet. If he vaults the pallet out of headlong flight, you can run around to the other side of the loop while she is stuck in the animation.

Finally, uncounterable situations. If you hold W against this killer, yes, she is going to catch up to you and she is going to hit you. Just like blight, ghoul, nurse, and every other killer that has a strong ability against holding W. Far too often I see survivors approaching a perfectly good loop and they decide to just keep holding forward instead of STAYING AT THE LOOP. Do not default to holding W against this killer. Find a pallet, even a weak one, and play it.

What does all of this mean? Its simple. If you want to beat Krasue, you need to do the following:

  • Get to a loop
  • Pre-drop the pallet as she's about to get to the loop
  • If she vaults - run around the loop
  • If she headlong flights - vault the pallet
  • If she does headlong flight into vault - do both
  • And most importantly… DONT PANIC! Take advantage of the small delays in her power!

Now, is there anything about this killer that I as a Krasue player find too strong and should be adjusted? Yes, absolutely. But she doesn't need to be slammed into the dirt. For one, I agree that survivors should lose leech when hooked to help combat tunneling. Additionally, I don't think the killer needs the ability to immediately perform a vault out of headlong flight. Those two elements alone would go a long way to help, without going completely overboard.

Before everyone says that this killer is turbo mega broken and needs to be nerfed, lets give it some time for the community to adjust to the new killer and her power, and learn the counterplay (like some of the points I described above, and that is probably not even an exhaustive list, I'm sure better survivor players can attest to that). After the dust has settled, small targeted adjustments can be made to the pain points of this killer for survivor to make going against her less frustrating.
