Bloodpoints are going down but levels aren't going up

When I tried to auto level Thalita, it kept me at the same level, but kept taking my bloodpoints away from me. I did this straight after a game. Before the previous match I had used the bulk level up option on the top right.
I tried changing characters and going back, but the same thing happened.
I'm on PS5.
