Dull totem mechanic idea

I've always thought the game would be more interesting if Dull totems had a mechanic that activated at some point in the game independent of perks.

And Ideally if we ever do enter an age where killers aren't hard tunneling survivors out of the game then survivors should feel pressured to do more than just gen rush as hard as possible.

Dull totems of course provide a way to slow the game down a bit if the meta ever does evolve. (Currently I probably wouldn't recommend this idea but in the future it could be something the game benefits from)

One idea is that all remaining totems on the map become lit once the exit gates are powered. These lit totems provide aura reading to the killer of nearby survivors in the same way that weave attunement provides aura reading from dropped items.

It's not overly game-changing but can help provide killers a much needed edge in end game scenarios and also give survivors a reason to cleanse totems more frequently.

Yes, I can get behind trying to make cleansing dulls not just a matter of BP greed.

I don't think I'd like that specific idea you suggest, Survivors are already incentivised to stick to the borders of the map once the gates are powered, I think with your change they'd start avoiding parts of the map more likely to have totems like main buildings in endgame, making interesting situations a bit less likely to happen.

But there's probably some other good idea someone could think up. Maybe default Pallet distribution could be slightly lowered, but every Totem cleansed adds a new Pallet to the map?

there's a million ideas. it's just a matter of making the totems more interesting if we get to a point where we need survivors to spend more time doing something to account for killers being technically weaker by things like more pallet density and less tunneling efficiency.

another idea would be like to have each totem tied to each survivor and one for the killer. if your surivor's totem is lit in the end game the killer can see your aura. if the killer's totem is still active they get a haste buff until it's cleansed.
