2v8 is Ridiculously Survivor Sided (Long Rant)

After playing the current version of 2v8 for a bit, I can say without a doubt that 2v8 is abhorrently survivor sided, to the point of ruining the gamemode entirely for me. 90% of my matches as survivor have been an absolute snooze fest from how easy it is to escape. I can stand still and still escape, it's ridiculous. As killer, however, I would be lucky if a get one or two kills. Every killer match has been loss after loss, with gens flying out of the game. Even with a teammate, we can't even get a single cage before half of the gens are finished. I played roughly ten or so killer matches this time around, and no joke only one game resulted in anything more than a 3k. It especially sucks since killer queues are 20 minutes long with no hope of them ever getting shorter.

What I Think is Causing the Issue

In a gamemode where the size of both roles are doubled, you expect most things in the game to be doubled as well. For the most part this is true, but what baffles me is how despite gens being repaired quicker than normal in this gamemode and twice as many survivors to complete them, the gen requirement isn't doubled. 8 gens are needed to win, which makes zero sense. 10 generators should be the requirement, there is no argument for the contrary. When there are two fewer generators to complete than there should be, it's easy to tell why survivors escape so easily.

I genuinely think that even with three killers, the gamemode would still be survivor sided. 8 survivors is insane. That's 8 survivors that can heal each other, save each other, crank gens together, and most importantly, distract the killer. It all comes down to pressure. 2v8 doesn't mean it takes 2 survivors to distract a killer, it still only takes 1. So if you get a survivor to distract a killer, you suddenly have a 1v7. Doesn't sound very fair, does it? And if you get two survivors to distract both killers, you now have 6 survivors cranking gens at incredible speeds. And when the killers manage to get a down, there are no hooks, so a caged survivor will more often than not appear right next to another survivor. With the crazy healing speeds from the medic class, a down results in absolutely no pressure. But it's not like that matters, since survivors get a bunch of tools to extend chases by way more than they should, so you have to sweat or double team just to get a down. On command sprint burst, windows of opportunity, the ability to rebuild strong pallets, mid chase heals, the list goes on. But when you look at what the killers get, you realize that the classes don't matter, because they're all dogshit. So even with three killers, there would still be 5 survivors cranking gens while the others loop the killers with crazy abilities, while the killers don't even get anything from downing them because the cages offer no pressure. And after all of this, slugging isn't even an option because everyone gets basekit unbreakable, and they have the audacity to buff it so it only takes 70% recovery progress to get up.

Some Ideas I Have to Fix It

First of all, survivor abilities need to be nerfed. The sprint burst should go back to being automatic, there is no place for on command sprint burst in this game. The medic class should not be able to offer free heals mid chase, it should go down to like 25% or something. Lastly, the scout shouldn't be able to rebuild broken pallets, but instead should have any means on a much shorter cooldown.

An obvious one, up the gen requirement to 10. It just makes sense; double the survivors, double the gens. I call it common sense, rhymes with Grug.

Also, do away with cage system. I get why they want it, so killers don't have to spend time hooking, which is nice. But what they fail to understand is that the cage system they have offers no pressure or strategic play. Hooking should be much faster, maybe a remote hooking system like the anniversary, but the cage system is just stupid.

Lastly, the killer classes need to get buffed. The miniscule buffs the classes give you are pathetic and not even worth thinking about. Shadow is maybe the only class that feels like it does anything, but it's not like I can get any value out of it since I can hardly get a down. It doesn't help that they keep insisting on changing killers classes, making them weaking while at the same time buffing survivor classes.

I think with these changes, 2v8 would begin to feel a little more balanced. So in short, Behavior, lock in.

I see what you mean, but I personally think the current state of the gamemode is killing 2v8. I don't understand how people see a 30% kill rate and the snooze fest that is survivor and think that that is perfectly okay. I'm curious how you think my suggestions would kill 2v8. I'm sure killer queue times would go up, that's a given, but when the wait is already 20 minutes, an extra 10 minutes or so would be well worth it if the games were actually enjoyable. Assuming every 3 or so games right now are somewhat fun, and that's generous, the real queue times right now would be closer to an hour. I think 30 minutes is justified. Especially when you could use that time to be productive or simply do something else.

The only thing i really hate about the 2v8 is the sprint burst on command. It makes the entire M1 killer roster feel horrible to play as since any M1 attack you make on them very easily denied.

Because you're asking for players that are already turned off by the game mode to receive nerfs while the players that are overwhelmingly drawn to the mode to receive buffs. You wouldn't just affect the queue, you would nuke it. It's already struggling with the 300% incentive, Play While You Wait, and bots. It's just unnecessary.

That being said, the mode could obviously stand to change. But I don't think this is the way to do it at all.

Be careful. People on here dont like reading the truth and will downvote you, because you insulted their fragile little survivor egos.

I can't wait for people complaining about queued being 1 hour because nobody would want to play survivor 😍😍

I would increase the power recharge timer for escapists as it feels way too fast to get back even on survivor side. That would be main change on survivor side I would do don't know if there is really any other need for change.

For real though. I knew it would probably be a mistake posting this on both Reddit and the official forums, but I figured I would try to voice my opinion. So far my experience has been people calling me stupid because it would "ruin the queue times" as if they would rather wait 20 minutes for a boring match than wait 30-40 minutes for an actually enjoyable one. Some lunatic even had the audacity to ask me if I've takin my pills today. But you know what, I'm not a sensitive person, so "feedback" like this is usually just good for a laugh. That's all this game feels like it's good for now anyways.
