System Improvement for higher FPS CAP.
Hello, the game is pretty old by now which is great since it means it lives longer than expected, and i want it to be even better, so i will give u my feedback.
i currently bought a new system which is top end system.

my system should be able to run dbd on immense FPS< but i heard that if u increase the FPS through the engine file, the game would not be able to read it properly and i would get teleported or even get banned as flagged for cheats due to the high refresh rates which can be confused by the anticheat since my game will work flawlessly better than everyone else, why am i limited to 120fps? a lot of people are really upset for the 120fps cap and the fact that the game engine reporting the data slow is something that should be worked on, my advice is to upgrade the engine to be able to at least cap 240fps minimum, game performance will be far superior, and new pcs are getting to the point where they can run such fps, i understand that my current system is better than the rest of the community, but once the 6000 rtx series will be released which is in a year or so, people would get better graphics and better pcs overall which would means dbd will be left behind with 120fps, dbd should be made possible to play on high fps, the game experience would be superior and more fun, less eye strain etc, playing on 144hz already feel far superior to 120, i know there is a dsync problem with the reports from the servers when the fps is higher, i studied this subject well, thats why i ask u to upgrade ur system so everyone can have higher fps for smoother experience, im og player with over 12k hours in ur game, i want to see ur game success and become better overall, is ridiculous to be 120capped at 2026, i want all of the players to share a better experience with the game as i know how much more fun the game would be with the fps cap increase.
i also used Premium AI to suggest u some pathing for the issue. and how to deal with it.
1. Does BHVR need to upgrade their system?
Yes. The issue is not with their servers' power, but with the Engine Tick Rate and Legacy Code.
Dead by Daylight runs on Unreal Engine. In older game architectures (which DbD is built on), physics calculations (movement, hitboxes, pallet stuns) are often calculated per frame.
- Standard Scenario: If the server runs at 60Hz (updates 60 times a second) and you run at 240 FPS, your client is "predicting" 4 frames of movement for every 1 real frame the server processes. Eventually, the server disagrees with your client's prediction and snaps you back.
2. Which part specifically do they need to upgrade?
To truly fix high-FPS desync and allow for 240Hz+ gameplay, Behaviour Interactive (BHVR) would need to address three specific areas:
- Decouple Physics from Frame Rate (The "Delta Time" Fix):
Currently, certain interactions (like skill checks and lunge distances) behave slightly differently at different frame rates. They need to refactor the code so that movement logic uses "Delta Time" (time passed since last frame) rather than raw frame counts. This ensures a survivor moves 4 meters per second whether they have 30 FPS or 300 FPS. - Increase Server Tick Rate:
DbD servers currently operate at a tick rate of 60Hz (60 updates per second). Competitive shooters like CS2 or Valorant use 128Hz or sub-tick systems.- If BHVR upgraded servers to 120Hz, players could play at 120 FPS natively without desync.
- The Problem: This doubles the server costs for BHVR.
- Client-Side Prediction Logic:
They need to improve the "netcode" that handles reconciliation. When your client and the server disagree on where a player is, the current system handles it clumsily (hard teleport). Better netcode would smooth this transition so it looks like the player slid into place rather than vanished and reappeared.
we moved far ahead and now we have tools to make things better so why not use them? i hope you can make a higher fps cap to at least 240hz, my pc wont be just used for dbd obviously, but once i play this game i want to experience the best of my hardware, and i know the same goes for everyone else.
