For the winter event, a proposal: Killswitch powerful killers/Syringe and bugs

I think to make this winter event more bareable maybe we could consider encouraging more fair play on both sides, make a fun event:

-Maybe turn off iri addons on both sides
-Make it so the S-Tiers can't be played
-Maybe more problematic perks at a push?

I'm not saying all of the above, but DBD is in a delicate situation rn and if you want people to enjoy this winter event without putting too much work into it, maybe you could make it so the game is more fun for both sides so they can get the cosmetics and have a good time and not hate each other and the devs.

Just an idea, what do people think? DO you have any ideas to add to this. I posted in general to spark discussion and get this more attention because I feel it needs urgent attention before the event goes live.

No powerful things means slugging/tunneling will be harder, people have more means to fight back etc, plus no gen rushing BNP's etc.

They're never going to do that, that's not what the killswitch is for.

I think selectively excluding things from events is a slippery slope, either way.

Idk, I think Killers' strength is subjective. Yes, some are more powerful than others, but no one would be able to agree on which Killers should be excluded from a given game mode. I wouldn't mind removing all perks, add-ons, and items though, like in Lights Out.

I don't really think it's that subjective, I think it's widely agreed on who is powerful and it's generally the hyper mobility killers (Nurse, Blight). Like they even promote the comp scenes these days which even limit said killers so yeah. Otherwise I agree with what you're saying it would be a lot of fun.

and as for @ReverseVelocity that's not what happened with the recent 2v8, which is what got me thinking about it.

I feel they could easily make events more fun for everyone if they removed the common tryhard options.

2v8 was different, since each killer has to be individually adapted to the new gameplay loop. The issue is Legion scaled incredibly well with the different mechanics. Even then I wasn't really happy with how they handled it.

Events don't change the gameplay loop inherently, they only add stuff on. It's just 1v4 with extra stuff.

Well I mean they enable the current hot debate of tunneling and slugging which this patch was meant to help with. Not to mention the map changes.

I don't really think it's that different, if you want to play standard DBD the standard queue is there, for a more casual and accessible event like 2v8 is, I feel limitations would go a long way and before you say Nurse and Blight are in 2v8, so is activateable sprint burst so there was broken mobility on both sides there.

in 1v4 we now have the syringes, which are just as problematic as the S-Tiers, to make things feel fairer they could easily be limited to help more casual players enjoy the event that's tailored to them, without dealing with those that make playing this game miserable.

Why would people who main s tier killer unable to play them?

Basically they aren't turned off for the whole game, people who run powerful things are usually the ones going for the win, making it miserable for those memeing in the event using the powers etc.

They'd still be playable in the normal queue while the event is up, it's just kind of making the game less extreme in the event mode, iri addons and s-tiers are usually only fun for the one playing them on both sides.

Honey, I'm sorry for ruining your dreams, but no matter what everyone in high tiers will run the most unfun things they can. That's why my 95 % of games are Nurses, Ghouls, Billies and Blight with Corrupt, Pain Res, DMS, Surge, Eruption, Pop, Lethal etc. And those 5 % of other killers are usually the same perks and the players play the same way. Every time I try to run anything fun on either side, it will end up with me throwing, because those perks can't compete the other side meta. I don't blame killers to hard tunnel, camp or slug because in the end it's a way to win which is goal in competitive game like dbd. Same way I don't blame survivors for genrush because more than half of the killer roaster is so boring to play against as there is nothing else fun or interactive to do (fe. if you hold W against Knight's bots to get free hit anyway but not double tapped or when you go against Ghoul who requires zero skill to down someone etc.)

I'm not saying what must happen I'm just discussing it, so don't worry you don't need to apologise.

I'm just thinking we could maybe do more for the event queues to make it more accessible and less try-hardy basically.

I feel if there was more in place more casual players would come play honestly, much like the reason people come to play 2v8.
